Also the local schools will be out for a week, giving our teachers a much needed rest. Some are still recovering from the flu." The Maryhill Museum, lo cated on the Washington side of the Columbia River, near The Dalles, OR, opened its 1976 season this week and on Nov. 3. this year the museum will mark the 50th anniver sary of its dediction by Queen Marie of Rumania. Displays of Indian baskets, Columbia River Indian stone sculpture, . and 19th century paintings and sculpture from the permanent collections will be on view. If you are on your way to the valley or would like to spend one day away, the Maryhill Museum would be an interest ing place for you and yours to visit. Home on spring break are Kristi Haguewood. George and Virginia Still man have returned from a two week vacation near Yuma, AZ where they met Orville and Barbara Cutsforth. They then traveled the country artifact hunting and enjoying the desert scenes that Arizona offers. Alice Soward (Mrs. Earl) of Lexington was released from Pioneer Memorial Hospital last Sunday afternoon. She has been there recovering from injuries she suffered when she fell down steps Mar. 3 at the Soroptimist Luncheon meet ing. On Tuesday, March 23, 9 a.m., the Heppner Child Development Center will have a professional photographer in to take pictures of your children. These pictures are similar to the ones taken at the schools. There is no age limit for the child and no obligation to buy the pictures. For those who are interest ed, please call the center, 676-9246 for an appointment. A band festival will be held April 2-3 with the Heppner band acting as hosts. A concert will be presented April 3, 7:30 p.m. Conductors will come from Salem and Portland to conduct the con cert with students .coming from various schools in East em Oregon to compete in the concert. Residents of the Heppner area are asked if they would make arrange ments to house the students who will be in Heppner for the festival. Approximately 80 outside students will be parti cipating in the events. We have received notice the copy we received last week on BMCC evening division clas ses was incorrect. The copy should have read "Basic Spoken Spanish" in stead of "Basic Spoken Eng lish." This class will be conducted on Tuesday evenings. Barbara Ann Palmer be came the bride of Kevin George Gutierrez in a Satur day afternoon ceremony at St. Williams Catholic Church, lone, with Father O'Brien officiating. The church pews were decorated with white bows and small blue flowers in the center. White and blue carnations graced the alter. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Palmer. The groom is the son of George Gutierrez and Mrs. Helen Drake. ' Given in marriage by her parents, the bride choose a long A -line gown of white satepeau. with a fitted bodice and high neckline. Her long train cathedral veil was edged in alencon lace, matching the trim on her gown. She carried a cascade of blue and white carnations on a white Bible. Officers elected to take their duties this June are: Addle LaTrace. president; Jane Ra iling, vice-president; Justine Weatherford, secretary; Bar bara James, treasurer; Dor ris Cutting, current president presided at the meeting and election. Business discussed included the work time at the Library-Museum grounds Sat.. March 27. beginning at 1 p.m. and a living, blooming Bicentennial project for com munity display this next summer. The evening's program was a talk on historical gardens bv Justine Weatherford. Several important gardens were des cribed; the two which were particularly emphasized were the gardens of Williamsburg and the gardens surrounding the White House. This group's April meeting will be a potluck dessert meeting at the Breidenbach home. April 12. That evening's program will be on terrar iums. Anita wore a long white dress with blue flowers and trimmed with white lace. Craig wore a blue and white plaid jacket and dark pants, matching the men in the wedding party. Kim Gutierrez was best man. Ushers were Kent Guti errez, brother of the groom and Mike Huddleston, friend of the groom. The wedding music was palyed by Rikka Tews with Mike Warren singing 'There Is Love" and "A Time for Ls" The bride's mother wore a floor length blue gown with a lace jacket. The wedding reception was held at the United Church of Christ with the hall decorated in blue and white flowers and candles. Attending the gift table were Carol Holtz and Gayle McNary. Kathy Gutierrez, sister of the groom attended the guest book.
