Classified ads Operating figures for banking firm 1975 operating figures for the Pendleton Banking Co. were released today by Joe B. Green, Chairman of the Board of the locally owned bank. He indicated that total assets of the bank increased 58 per cent from $7 million to $11.7 million during the year. In 1974, the bank was the fastest growing in Oregon with a rate of 54 per cent. Preliminary figures indi cate that earnings for the year were about $54,000 or $1.54 per outstanding share of common stock, an increase of 189 per cent over 1974 figures. Green emphasized final figures could vary somewhat, but said that he felt any such adjustments would be minor. "We're well satisfied with the year", said Green, "and we are looking forward opti mistically to 1976 and beyond. Our earnings for the year represent what we think is the proper balance in view of our extraordinary growth in size, and we are now in an excellent position to move ahead with our plans for the bank." I l l) ANALYSIS Earl Bates, agricultural meteorologist and Joseph He nnessey recently published the 2. 4 1) transporl report which summarized data and analysis of 2.4 I) monitoring stations in Oregon, reports Harold Kerr. County Exten sion Agent. The purpose of the analysis was to calculate if 2,4 D is transported from wheat fields in Oregon across the Horse Heaven Hills into vineyards of the lower Yakima Valley and whether it might cause injury lo the crop. It was determined that the critical level of 2.4 I) concen tration at grape vineyards was I part per billion Using a complex formula. Bates and Hennessey calculated from data collected at Oregon points closcsl to the affected vineyards that Ihe highest calculated amount of 2,4 1) contributed by Oregon was 0 013 parts per billion or 13 per cenl of the amount required lo cause damage In the vineyards This report should largely ease the suspicion of Wash ington grape growers thai Oregon Wlicatgrowers are causing their 2,4 D damage problem. CUT IT" Public Works Bill More than a half-billion dollars is included in the recently signed 1976 public works appropriations bill for, energy production and flood control projects affecting Oregon, Sen. Mark Hatfield said recently. Hatfield is the ranking Republican member of the appropriations commit tee panel that approved the funds. He released a detailed listing of the individual proj pets "This total of $514,918,000 represents responsible federal spending that will help create Oregon jobs, improve local economies and protect our region's natural resources," Hatfield explained. "Of this total, $441,184,000 will fund construction work on a wide variety of projects throughout the region at a time when the Northwest construction indus try is in the economic dol drums and more jobs are needed." Hatfield broke down the total funding into several different categories. He said construction work by the Corps of Engineers on Oregon related projects will total $237,725,000; for the Bureau of Reclamation the total is $120,900,000, and self-financed Bonneville Power Admini stration construction work in Oregon will total $82,559,000. In addition to these constru ction funds, the $514.9 million includes money for regular operation and maintenance work at existing projects, and for investigation and design work prior to construction of new public works projects. Including the construction funds detailed above, the Oregon-related grand totals for the agencies include; $277,421,000 for the Corps of Engineers; $126,178,000 for the Bureau of Reclamation; $105,789,000 for Bonneville Power Administration; and $5,530,000 for the Energy WHO DOES IT?
