1 page 7, THE GAZETTE TIMES, Heppner, OR, Thursday, Dec. 18. 1975 School Board meets The advisability of pursuing a plan to secure additional land in the Boardman area for school buildings was a topic of discussion at the Dec. 15 meeting of the Morrow County School District Board. Superintendent Matt Doher ty reported an investigation into the availability of land had been conducted and that land which bordered the present school property is either not available or is Um high priced. Land in other locations ia available, however, the board had originally favored placing all future buildings at a central location In order to gain the economy of shared facilities and staff. This will be the Christ mas edition of the paper and the newspaper will be dated Thursday, Dec. 23. We realize that some of our readers will not receive the paper until Friday, however, due to printing procedures we are unable to make any changes in our schedule. To allow the staff to be with their loved ones during this holiday the Gazette-Times will be closed Friday, Dec. 26. quire Increases in school facilities In the Poardman-Ir-rigon area. Dean Naffziger of Heppner High School and Mike Wether ell of Riverside High School reported that 23 students are currently employed in cooper ative work studies programs in the county's three high schools. Cooperative work experience extends the class room training to an actual Job site where the students are employed for a few hours each day. The Board accepted the resignation of Jim West from the lone Advisory Committee and Burrel Cooley from the Budget Committee. Sandra , Murray was appointed to replace West. Franc I ne Evans of Irrigon was appointed as a replacement on the budget committee. In other business, a letter of resignation from Miss Diane Black, Language Arts teacher at lone High School, was read and accepted by the board. The board discussed a request from the City of Boardman for a property easement to correct a traffic problem at the corner of Main and Columbia Avenue and for a curb along north Main Street. Administrators were instructed to pursue the mat ter in greater detail. No action was taken. In final action, the Board granted a 1 year extension to the Superintendent's contract. Patients at Pioneer Memo rial Hospital this week are: Manuelita Munkers and Pete Cilman, both of Heppner. Patients dismissed this we ek were: La Verne Hams, lone; Jill Hoffman, Condon; Wilbur Gourley, Lexington; Iva Payne, The Dalles; Mr. Dee Jones and Mary Snow, both of Heppner. Henry Stotts, Heppner, was transferred to Walla Walla General Hospital for surgery.
