Mike Ferrell, nine-year-old
son of Mrs. Ella Ferrell,
Monument, underwent heart
surgery July 28 at the Uni
versity of Oregon Medical
Hospital in Portland. His
condition is satisfactory. This
is his second heart surgery.
He is the grandson of Mrs.

Off System Road projects on
rural roads and streets. Total
estimated cost of Ihe projects

will be paid by Ihe federal
government and KM. 050 by
local agencies. There is no
cost lo Ihe stale.
The program w as announc
ed last May as a means
designed to improve rural
area roads. Only those roads
which are not part of the ,
federal aid system are eligible
for financial assistance under
the program.
Under Ihe funding program.
Ihe federal government pays
78 per cent of Ihe cost and the
local unit 22 per cent with no
slate funds involved. Oregon
received an allocation of
$'.678,613 as its share of the
program and when matched
