Ir75 Jerry Gentry, lleppner High School, has been selected to participate in the 23rd annual East West All Star Football Game. The 23rd annual classic will be held In Baker, Or.,' Satur day, Au. 23. Gentry will play on the Kast Team. Players for the outstanding event that helps support the Shrlner'a Hospital for Crippl ed Children, Portland, will arrive In LaGrande Aug. 10 to start their training. The teams will be housed on the campus of Eastern Oregon State College. The college field will be used for practice by the East Team. The West Team will conduct workouts at the LaGrande High School athle tic field. All members of the team will travel to Portland Aug, 13 for the annual North-South game in Civic Stadium and to visit the Children's Hospital. The East-West games start ed in 1952, with no game being played in l9. The West leads the East in the series, 13 8; there has been one tie. Scott Martin pitched a fine game and key hits by Martin. Cliff Dougherty and Kick Cole gave the home team the victory. It is th 75 year old black safe that may be seen behind the court house. Bids will be accepted at the clerk's office at II am., Wednesday. Aug. 6. July lfi, the county court was holding discussions with negotiators representing var ious unions. A delegation from the Irrigon Lions Club came requesting tax relief for club property taxes. No decision was reached The court is applying to the Stale Highway Department for funds to do work on the rnad near Patterson Ferry where it plans In install railroad warn ing devices, On Thursday. July 17, the Morrow County Court hosted an all day meeting of District 12, East-Central Oregon As sociation of Counties, at the Dodge City Inn at Boardman. The County Health Depart ment is working toward the .Multiphasic Clinics which will take place during the week following the county fair. These are particularly for children entering kinder garten or the first grade and for high school freshman or students new to the county school system. Another pleasant face is noted in the appraiser's office, ll belongs to Dan Kichardson who has come from Jackson ville. Or., where he worked for the city. He has also taught school and worked as a carpenter. Dan is an appraiser-trainee working under Charles Patching. Dan's wife is the former Sandy Carlson of lone. The Kichardsons are living in the house on Balti more that belonged to the Earl Gilliams for years and was most recently occupied by the Nix family. Also noted in the appraiser's office is a new, framed certificate that states on June 26. 1975 Tom Stewart success fully passed the exam that has moved him from an apprai ser trainee to a certified appraiser. IRRIGON NEWS Frances Rose Wilson Mr, and Mrs. Vernon Slew art celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house reception for their friends and relatives on July 19 More than 100 were present for the occasion. Recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Froberg were Charles Weatherbv, and Mrs. Wealherbv of Dallas. Or Mr and Mrs, Chester Wil son have returned from a vacation trip to California. They visited their daughter, ('aniline, in Santa Cruz, who accompanied them to Sequoia National Park for several days. They also visited Mrs. Wilson's mother. Mrs. Eva Fagerstrom. and Mr. and Mrs. David Bauer and family in Watsonville.
