Senior citizens visit BMCC
and kept busy with programs

meeting new friends, the
group went to the Blue
Mountain Community College
campus.
The visitors w ere directed to
the theater in Pioneer Hall.
They were greeted by Mary
Davis, nutritional coordinator
lor the area s Citizens Action
Program They viewed a film
on BMCC which included
colored pictures of each com
munity in the two-county area
and were given an explanation
ol the college's philosophy, its
many programs and its future

be special items offered for
sale at the United Methodist
Women's annual Lawn Sale
Saturday, May 17.
The sale will feature a table
of antiques from older Hepp
ner homes. This year some
very interesting articles were
given from the Ona Gilliam
home by members of her
family.
The sale will begin at 9:30
a m., and luncheon will be
served from 11 a.m. in the
church basement. There will
also be a table of baked goods
for sale in the church base
ment .
This sale is the only fund
raising activity of the Metho
dist Women who contribute
the'-funds to missionary en
deavors, camp scholarships,
and for various needs of their
local church.

Reception will honor Mrs. Wilkinson
Motel rooms in Heppner,
Boardman and Arlington have
been reserved for guests
coming to lone Saturday
evening to honor O.E.S. Grand
Lecturer Virginia Wilkinson
for a reception arranged by
her chapter. Ruth-Locust No.
32. of Morrow County.
Campers and trailers will
also be expected to locate at
the county fairgreunds.
A smorgasbord dinner at the
Grange Hall from 5 to 7 p m.
will precede the Hawaiian
themed reception at lone High
School. Guests are to wear
Hawaiian style clothing for
the occasion. Reservations
have been received from
members of the Eastern Star
chapters throughout the
northwest.
Mrs. Wilkinson has a long
and distinguished record in
Eastern Star. She was initiat
ed in Ruth Chapter. Heppner.
April 25. 1947. She held several
appointive offices in the chap
ter before starting through the
line offices leading to her
installation as Worthy Matron
in March 1957. Having served
a 15 month term as Worthy

CONTEST WINNER
Laura Allstott. daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allstott
Jr.. Lakeview, was the first
place winner of the American
ism essay contest sponsored
there by the American Legion
Auxiliary.
Miss Allstott is a Junior at
Lakeview High School. Her
family formerly lived in
Heppner and at Arlington.
Her winning essay will be
entered in the state contest.
