The lead changed hands many limes during the 3 hour, 45 minute game. First it was Heppner 6-0, thei Wasco 10-fi, then Heppner 15 10, then Wasco 1816. Finally, the Mustangs put an end to the mayhem with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Heppner scored their 19 runs on 19 base hits, a good offensive peformance. The final scores were Heppner 191, Wasco County 89, Weston McEwen 84, Sherman County 78, lone 52, Riverside 13. , Double winners for the Mustangs were Wade Padberg in the 220 and 440 and Dewayne McCIain in the mile and two-mile. Both relay teams were victorious. Carl Christman turned in a fine performance in the pole vault with a leap of 115", and he barely missed at the 12-foot mark. Molly Pierce of the Fillies tossed the discus 66'10" to place first and Diane Holland took first in the javelin with 854". Teresa Peck and Janice llealy tied in the high jump with a 42" effort. Janice llealy also tossed the shot put 32"'". Tami Toll topped the long jump with 14'9'i". In the 110 hurdles, Kimee Haguewood had her seasons best time of 17.6. Teresa Peck clocked 12.4 in the 100 yd. dash. In the mile event Molly Pierce made a time of 6.46 and the 440 relay team of Toll, Harrison, Cox and Doherty recorded 55.3. 880 yd. run saw Sally Sumner cross the finish in 2.51. The 880 medlay relay team of Doherty, Toll, Cox, Peck made their season's best time of 202. The Fillies topped the meet with 238 points followed by Riverside with 59 and lone with 33. The Heppner Fillies will have a home track meet May 2. G-T Want Ads Pay Mustsngs vbi invitational meet The Heppner Mustangs fini shed first in 10 events, and set a new school record, to win their second consecutive vic tory in the annual Morrow County Invitational track and field meet, Boardman last Saturday. Team scores were Heppner 161, Umatilla 87, Weston McEwen 67, Condon 53, Helix 54, lone 29, Echo 27, and Riverside 17. Jerry Gentry's first place throw of 1782" set a new school record in that event breaking the mark established by Tom Howell of 1749". Crook County of Prineville earned AA honors in the meet with 139 points followed by Grant Union 129, Mac-Hi 92, White Salmon 67 and Wahtoka 60. McLeod was a triple winner collecting firsts in the high jump and both hurdle races. Padberg won in the 440 and 800 yd runs. Terry Mann of Wahtonka was a double win ner with firsts in shotput and javelin. Placing second for Heppner was the 440 relay team. Earning third places were Marshall in the shot, Padberg in the high jump, Tom Wolff in the mile and two-mile runs, and Steve McLaughlin in both hurdles. Fourth place went to Marshall in the javelin., McLaughlin in the pole vault and Ray Cate, long jump. Fifth place were won by Greg Gow in the discus and Ray Cate in the 100 and 220 yard dashes.
