Heppner trackmen win Condon Invitational Two school records, a meet record and the high point performance were set at the Condon Invitational Track and Field meet Saturday. Heppner High School boys track team placed first for the second consecutive year. The Mustangs tallied 114'2 points in earning the victory. They were followed by Sher man County 63. Condon 52. Wheeler County Girls golf team tops Umatilla The Heppner High school girls golf team played the I'matilla girls in a nine hole golf event with the Fillies winning by three strokes. David McLeod earned high point honors for Ihe meet and a trophy as he set a Heppner Hiah School record in the high jump with a leap of 6'3 ". He previously set Ihe old mark with a leap of 6'1 1" earlier this spring McLeod also won the low hurdles with a :21.3 clocking and was third in the hiah hurdles wilh a : 16 3. Wade Padberg shattered Ihe 44oard dash meet record wilh his lime of :51 6 The old meet mark was :52 8. Padberg and McLeod learn ed with Ray Cale and John Kilkenny to run a 3.39 3 in the mile relay which lowered the school record set last year by seven lenlhs of a second. There were several other outstanding performances for Ihe Mustangs who collected seven blue ribbons in Ihe mec! Other firsts were gained by Carl Christman with a 1 1 -foot jump in the pole vault Tom Wolff ran 2: 10 in the 880 lo win lhal event and the Heppner High School 440-relay team of Cale. McLaughlin. Wilson was the second high pninl collector for Heppner as he added Ihirds in Ihe 100. 220 and javelin His performances were : 10 5 in Ihe 100. :24 3 in ihe 220 and he threw Ihe javelin 1.157". The following Monday. Heppner will be competing in a four-way meet also in Boardman against Riverside, lone and Sherman County. This meet begins al 4 p m. Mustang golfers win two matches The Heppner High School golf learn had two meets last week and the Mustangs won bolh evenls. Thursday, (he Muslangs played al Boardman'! Willow Run course, against Riverside and Umalilla High Schools. David Mcleod again paced the Mustangs with 32's indi vidual points, collecting three firsts and running on the winning mile relay team. Carl Christman added 22 counters and Wade Padherg earned 17.
