Tanya is working in a nursing home in Colfax. Also home for the weekend was Mrs. Teresa White of Pendleton, coming over In pick up her daughter, Sahrina. who has been staying with Mrs. Gladys Drake while .Sahrina had been recuperat ing from the chicken-pox. Teresa is working at the State Welfare Board office in Pen dleton Bill Fuller of Eugene spent the weekend of the 15 visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rowell and family. Mrs. Dennis Swanson and daughter Erin returned to their home in Seattle Thurs day. Swanson remained for a longer visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garland Swan son. Mrs. Roy Lindstrom accompanied Mrs. Swanson to Portland, where she met her laughter. Christina, from Ta eoma. Mrs. Lindstrom and Christina spent the weekend in Portland, returning home Tuesday. A "Friendship Party" was held at the I'nited Church of Christ social room. March 17, in honor or Rosetta Markham. Rosetta will be moving with her foster parents. Rev. and Mrs. Bill Arthur, early in April, Hostesses were Mmes. Jean Jepson. Diana Hams, Linda LaRue. Lola Ann Petty john. Helen Nelson. Rose Baker and Betty Rietmann. On March 18 a pot luck dinner was held at the Legion Hall in honor of the American Irion's birthday, given by the auxiliary. The annual essay contest winners for lone this year were Jan Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Peterson, for the junior division, and Susan Peininy. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Zinter in the senior division. Jan'Peterson Have her essay, but Susan Peinina was unable to attend. A eift was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doherty for outstanding work in both the American Legion and Auxi liary. Following the dinner ho'h organizations held their regular meetings. Mrs Helen .Martin. Mrs. mary Arthur and Mrs. Helen Nelson attended a "cluster meeting" of the Women's Fellowship of the United Church of Christ in The Dalles March IS. Several stale offi cers wee present. The Dalles Congregational Church was host. Mrs. Norma Rea and Mrs. Vera Rietmann were recent visitors in Seattle for a week visiting with Mrs. Frieda Kki and Mrs. Thelma Hall. A presenta tion of colored slides of flowers and local scenes was given by Helen Martin. Table centerpieces of daffodils and forsythis made by Helen Martin were won by Nora Turner, Jeanne Huston, Sybil Bran and Myrtle Smith. Angel cake was served to those present by Wilma Martin, Jean Nelson, Pat Pettyjohn, Thelma Ling. Edith Nichoson and Helen Martin. One hundred people in the community attended the going away parly given in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Bill Arthur, and foster-daughter. Rosetta Mar cum. March 20, with the members of the United Church of Christ as hosts. A potluek supper was held at 6:30 p.m., followed by a program. Both the senior and junior choirs of the church sang several numbers. Don Brisiow gave a reading, followed by a skit. "Easter Bonnets." with Carmen French as narrator. Those acting as models were Bever ly Wilson. Judy Rea. Betty Rietmann. Geneva Palmer and Bill Rietmann. Others taking part were Helen and Paul Pettyjohn. At the end. Rev. and Mrs. Arthur were presented with a money Easter basket, accompanied by best wishes in their work with the I'nited Church of Christ at Condon. Members of the junior and senior classes of lone High School left at 4:30 a.m. Friday, to attend the Oregon legislative sessions at Salem as guests of Rep. Jack Sumner. They were accom panied by Gordon Meyers. Mrs Darrel Wilson and Mrs. Lee Palmer. Jim and Ann McElligott and Al Thompson returned to Bo7cman. Mont.. Sunday. Jim and Ann have been visiting their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Dick McElligott. this past week during spring vacation at Montana State University. Ann is working in a hospital in Groat Falls as part of her college training. Al Thompson has been visiting at the home of Mark Tullis. Forty-three women from Morrow County attended the legislative sessions in Salem. March 20. Attending from the lone area were Mrs. Birdine Ttillis. Mrs. Norma Rea and Mrs. Gerald Rea. Mr and Mrs. Ray Banka spent the weekend in Coeur d'Alene. Idaho, visiting his parents. Morrow County Sheriffs Posse Saturday, Uorcb 29 Dance 2.50 single 3.00 couple Richard Rea of Milwaukee spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clell Rea. Other visitors on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Rea and family of Hermiston. Robert Drake and Paul Pettyjohn Jr. attended a Mobile dealers meeting in Pasco Thursday evening. Phil Carlson, attending OIT at Klamath Falls, and Sherl Carlson. Oregon State Univer sity at Corvallis are spending spring vacation at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carlson. Greg and Leland White of Bend spent their spring vaca tion visiting their grandfather. Gordon White. Mrs. Jan White was here over the weekend to take them back home. Mrs. Ralph Kincaid and family from Silverton are visiting at the Delbert Emert home during spring vacation. Miss Cherilyn Smouse from Albany is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Smouse. Cherilyn is attending Linn-Benton Community Col lege and has one more term to complete before graduating as a registered nurse. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Morgan spent the weekend in Portland on business and visiting with their daughters. Mrs. Jerry Davidson and family and Mrs. Jim Paavola and family of Scappoose. Mrs. Robert Ball and child ren. Brandi and Brian, of Bremerton. Wa.. are spending this week with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Rohde and family of Kennewick were guests Sunday of Mrs. Vera Rietmann. lone High School authorities retried lo the sheriff s de partment Thursday that someone had removed a grav colored safe and a wood stand from the high school. The safe contained school papers and o'her items. Dr Sy Brandon, director of Instrumental Music at Blue Mountain Community College, has been commissioned by the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra 'o write a composition lo commemorate the nation's Hsh birthday. The composi tion, lo be written for full orchestra, will be premiered in i he first concert of the sm phony orchestra's 1975-76 season nexl October.
