Funeral Wednesday for Ella Adlard Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the United Methodist Church for Ella Adlard, 55, who died Saturday, Feb. 22, in The Dalles. Mrs. Adlard was born near llardman on Jan. 7, 1920, the daughter of Ira and Pearl Ayers McConkie. She was a member of United Methodist church and San Souci Hebe kah lodge. The services were conduct ed at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Hev. Edwin Cutting offi ciating. Kathryn Hoskinssang "In the Garden" and "Safely Now the Light of Day," accompanied at the organ by Pauline Miller. Josephine Beckner of lone dies at 79 Josephine (Josie) Beckner, 79. lone, died in Pendleton Friday. Feb. 21. Mrs. Beckner was born March 29, 1895, at Pilot Rock, the daughter of Frank and Flora Waugh Pedro. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a m, at St William's Church in lone, with Rev, John O'Brien offi ciating Sacred selections were sung by the St. William's Church Youth Choir. Casket bearers included Don McElligott. Charles Doherty. Dclbert Emert, Lloyd Morgan. Dick McElli gott and Harry Normoyle. Her husband, Lake Beck ner. preceded her in death in 1905. Stal ter drains into Bairn Fork. The water spout washed out the road surface and brought rocks and mud down on the right-of-way. Judge Paul Jones and the court have spent much time working with the Doctor Search Committee consider ing bids for a clinic building. The judge says they think that they can have the clinic ready for the doctors' use by April 15. Discussions have been con tinuing about the future of . highway programs. These sessions concern work that may be done between 1976 and 1980. Barbara Bloodsworth of the county clerk's office says that 23 dogs- now have 1975 licenses. The assessor's office is keeping busy with appraisals and property lax returns with "still a lot to go." lone girls place 4th The lone's girls basketball team finished 4th after they were defeated by both Uma tilla and Pilot Rock in last week's District 7A girls all tournament playoff games. Winners of the tournament were Weston-McEwen. 1st place. Umatilla. 2nd. Pilot Rock. 3rd. and lone won the consolation spot. This statistical report is required by the Slate Department of Children's Ser vices' research and statistics sub-department. Tiny Sweeney is back on the job in the county health department, but is only able to work half days. Paper work related to the immunization clinics is time consuming for the department staff. The planning office is con tinuing work on several pro jects. Planner David Moon is involved with many com mittees and must spend a great deal of time attending meetings. Feb. 26. at 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Mr. Doherty died in Hepp ner on Monday, Feb. 24. at the age of 67.
