Turkey Hop weekend Hearing The date for the annual Soropnmis' -sponsored Turkey Hop is Saturday . Nov. 30. This "Welcome Every body," annual Thanksgiving weekend dance is presen'ed at a time when college students, sen' ice personnel, and family members who have returned to Heppner for Thanksgiving can get together. Tne music this year will be by J:m Ackley and Matt Greenup. This duo has played a' many dances here. Greenup is a drummer. Ackley is ptanis' and vocalist. They fea'ure soft and medium pop selections. Ackley us building new public address equipment so dancers will enjoy well amplified sound. He is the ms'rumental music instructor for the Heppner public schools as well as the director of the high school choir. The Somptimist committee for tins year's dance is Joyce Bergs'rom. chairman, and Gail Hughes, Daisy Collins and Barbara Paullus. The Tricky Cookers met at the home of Betty Heath Nov. 5. and voted to make artificial flowers, vases and napkin holders for rest home patients at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. The Shrimp Boat in Ken newick was the scene of a luncheon meeting on Monday when the Lexington Three Links Club members had a "day out" and a no-hostess luncheon. The afternoon was spent in sightseeing and enjoying Columbia Center. Those attending were Mrs. Melba Fish of Seattle, Carolyn Howard, president of the club, and members Florence Mc Millan, Catie Padberg, Venice Hendrickson. Leita Messen ger, Gladys Van Winkle, Hilda Yocom. Freida Majeske, Irene Padberg and Delpha Jones. Mrs. Gordon Streeter and children. Junita and Lowell. Seniors Shannon Kelly and Dena Sfruthers found their experience at the annual conference at Willamette Uni versity a pleasant one. They attended on scholarships awarded by the Heppner American Legion Auxiliary and the Soroptimists. DEGREE OF HONOR DINNER. NOV. 23 Members of the Degree of Honor Protective Association met Nov. 12. The chair officers paid tribute to two deceased mem bers. Mrs. Victor Lovgren and Miss Dons Robinson. The Thanksgiving dinner for members, . families, and friends will be Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Degree of Honor Hall. Meat dishes will be furnished, other dishes will be pot luck. Ruth-Lotus Chapter 32 of the Order of Eastern Star held a school of instruction for its officers. Mrs. Betty Angstead. as sociate grand conductress of the Grand Chapter of Oregon, observed the officers as they went through ri'uals and offered her official opinions and suggestions as to how the officers might perform their pars more effectively. Morrow Coun'y artists Shirley Mc Narv. lone, and Ardis Hunt. Lexington, have entered some of their work. The auction features works by Eastern Oregon artists and has been arranged by the. Oregon Lung Association as a fund-raising effort to support its campaign for "Life and Breath." Twenty regional artists will -show oil paintings, acrylics, a'er colors, batiks, clay sculpture, metal sculpture, pottery, ink sketches, and blown glass The exhibit auction will be Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 5 p.m. in the LaGrande Elks building at the corner of Washington and Depot S'reets. The girls were assigned to dif ferent counties. They met girls from many high schools in all parts of Oregon.
