Hughes Assessor Bergstrom 764 Harshman 869 Surveyor Thompson Morrow County voters turned out 55 per cent of the registered vote Tuesday, overcoming the national apathy trend because of a holly contested race for Mor row County Assessor in which incumbent Joyce Bergstrom was defeated by Everett Harshman. 869 to 764, a difference of 105 votes. Mrs. Bergstrom carried three of the nine county precincts, Irrigon, 111 to 101; N.E. Heppner, 87 to 79; and N.W. Heppner, 129 to 112. Harshman 's biggest vote came from lone, Boardman and Hardman precincts. Jack Sumner, running un opposed for state representa tive, received 1.279 votes. The greatest Morrow Coun ty inconsistency was reflected in the ballot measures, No. 14, 14A and 14B. This is the public officials' financial ethics and Judiciary Ballot Supreme Court, 1 McAllister 1204 Supreme Court, 6 Denecke 1128 Court of Appeals, 6 Circuit Court Kaye 1224 reporting measures in which local voters approved the financial disclosure for state public officials, 872 to 679, but defeated the same measure as it applies o officials for Morrow County (633 to 802) and for the City of Heppner ' (444 to 938). Some precincts showed far greater turnout percentage than the county average. Lexington, for example, had 185 votes cast out of 289 registered for 65 per cent; Hardman, 23 votes' out of a possible 28 for 80 per cent ; and S.E. Heppner had the greatest percentage of registered voters at the polls, 86 per cent (154 out of 177 registered). In all, 1.332 votes were cast. For judge of the court of appeals, position 6, Jason Lee, -whose name was ordered back on the bailor after their priming, received only 535 votes. The county now has a total of 2.447 registered voters in the coun ty. Of these, 1,332 are Demo crats, 999 are Republicans and the remaining 116 are regi stered with other parties. Four years ago the general election was also held on Nov. 5. and at that time there were 2.137 registered voters in Morrow County. Of this num ber there were 1,099 register ed Democrats, 990 registered Republicans and 48 registered as other parties. In the 1970 general election, the turnout of registered voters was 80 per cent throughout the county, with 1.700 of the voters going to the polls out of a possible 2,137 registered voters. Clues for his or her identity will be hidden only in ads for sponsoring merchants. If by coincidence the name of the Mystery Person (or other facts about him or her) happens lo appear in news items, editorial matter or other places in this news paper, these will not count as clues in this contest. 4. To enter, write down the name you think lo be the Mystery Person. Add the total number of clues you can find in ALL the ads of sponsoring merchants in this issue. You do noi have to list all these clues, just give the total number of them. Don't forget to add your name and address. Then drop your entry in the box located ai the sponsoring merchant whose ad is border ed with a dark border in the ads listed below in this issue. 5. There is no other place where entries will be accept ed. Any member of the family may bring in all the entries for thai family. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. 6.
