LRPC to meet Monday The Morrow County School District Long Range Planning Committee will meet Monday. Nov. 4. 8 p.m.. at the district office in Lexington. The meeting is a follow-up meeting to a previous meeting of Oct. 21 in which the committee received a report from the Field Training and Service Bureau of the Uni versity of Oregon regarding enrollment projection and facility needs for Morrow County Schools. Members of the committee win consider the recom mendations of the report and will attempt to set some priorities on fliem. The Field Training and Service Bureau had entered in'o an agreement with the district in May to provide a report by Aug. 15. However, the lack of decisiveness relat ed to some of Ihe major industrial development in the county caused a delay in the presentation of the report. Hermiston I I TH jj UN essay contest to open The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs are again sponsor ing Ihe United Nations Pil grimage for Youth, a project where 1,000 high school stu dents attend six weekly ses sions each summer at the UN in New York Cily. The students are addressed by delegates to the UN and by representatives of Ihe UN agencies for a "behind the scene" experience. The stu dents are chosen for the trip as a result of an essay contest conducted by the organiza tions. This year the essay topic is "The United Nations Now in This Changing World." Twenty winners from Oregon will leave Portland about July 4 and return late in July or early August. The all-expense trip is provided by Ihe sponsoring lodges with the provision thai for one year after the student returns he is to report on his trip to any group that requests it. Last year's winner from this area was Anila Davidson. Students desiring lo enter the essay contest should contact their English or speech instructors for details.
