The church school classes of the United Church of Christ presented a program "The Colors of Christmas." Dec. 23 al 5 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Mrs. Norman Nelson, church school spuerintendent, gave the introductory wel come, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Kincaid, gave a series of four slide presentations, "The Colors of Christmas," Color-. ing Christmas With Music," "Colorful Description in Bible" and "Color Your ' Christmas with Love. Joy. and Peace." The intermediate class, under the direction of Mrs. Robert Rietmann. explained the symbols on the two banners they had made and presented to the church. The primary class pre sented a Nativity tableau. Mrs. Bill Arthur and Cassan dra Chapel led the group. The nursery class sang some songs with Mrs. Mary Arthur as pianist. Mrs. Keith Rea and Helen Byrne were directors. Benediction was given by Pastor Bill Arthur. A pot luck dinner for the congregation followed the program. Several people went caroling around the com munity. Refreshments were served to the group when it returned to the church. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Wright are visiting in lone with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Barnett and other family members. Dean has completed his schooling in Ontario and will work for Jerry Doherty. Marlene Magill arrived home for the holidays Dec. 22. She is employed by Safeco Insurance Co. in Portland. supper at 6:30 p.m. Cards and bingo will be played and everything will be free. Cardinal Club room mothers provided a Christmas tree for each room. A gift ex , change was held for all grades. Party chairman ar ranged special games and refreshments. Christmas was observed at the lone High School with a short assembly followed by caroling. A holiday issue of the, Cardinal Spirit was distributed. The Cardinal Club held a benefit drawing during the intermission of the lone school program. Thursday. Dec. 20. Winners were: $25 " bond. Kristi Edmundson: wool blanket. Mrs. Bill Gates: lamp. Mrs. Don McElligott: and turkey. Carol McElligott. The annual Christmas pro gram was presented by the lone Schools. Dec. 20. in the cafetorium. The program in cluded musical selections by the high school, elementary and junior high school bands and the high school choir. The elementary school stu dents presented a play in three acts which told the story of Christmas. Part I was a Nativity scene, Part II a department store scene, and part III a family and caroler scene. Miss Sherrie Bahr was the director. , Everyone was given a bug of treats provided by the Cardi nal Club. A girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nelson, Dec. 21. at the Good Shepherd Hos pital, Hermiston. Milton Morgan was in Wich ita, Kans., last week to attend a meeting of the Great Plains Wheat Association. Milton is president of the organization. The Rev. and Mrs. Bill Arthur were in Portland last week to visit Bill's brother, Allan, who had major surgery recently. Allan is reported doing well.
