The lonf High School Advi
sory Board hat submitted a
questionnaire to parent! of
school children to inquire how
bet to handle the problem of
rising prim as it pertains to
the school lunch program.
The parents are asked to
make a preference of four
choices: l Leave the meal
pries the same and lower the
quality of the meals; (2)
Increase the meal price a
small amount (5 cents to 10
cents) and maintain the same
quality of meals; 3' Increase
the meal prices by a larger
amount ( 15 cents to 25 cents
and raise the quality of the
meals; U Other suggestions
The board is planning to
hold the lunch program prices
at the level of 23 cents per
student, 30 cents per adult,
and 10 cents for extra milk as
long as possible However,
according to John Edmund
son, principal of lone Schools,
it appears that the prices will
have to be increased before
the school year is over.
At a meeting of the lone
Schools Advisory Committee
Oct. 4. John Edmundson
reported that preliminary
contacts have been made that
might lead to the placement of
one or two exchange students
in the lone Schools.
It will first be necessary to
determine the amount of
interest in the community for
this type exchange. Any
family which would be inter
ested in hosting an exchange
student is invited to contact
Edmundson.

The lone Junior High foot
ball team lost a close game to
Riverside Junior High Oct. 11.

Riverside scored its touch
down in the second quarter,
lone managed to push the ball
across the goal line in the 3rd
quarter but the touchdown
was nullified by a penalty.
The girl's volleyball team of
lone High School played at
Umapine Tuesday where they
won one game and lost one. On
Wednesday, they played
Heppner and were on the
losing side for all three games.

community clean-up during

senior classes picked up trash
in the community.

public. Mrs. Rietmann said
she hoped the people attending
the Ione-Cu!ver football game
would take advantage of the
halftime period to come to the
school and view the displays
as well as attending after the
game is concluded. Coffee will

DIES IN FLORIDA
Mrs. W.C. Cox of Heppner
received word last week of the
death of her nephew. Gene C.
Tavlor, 56. in Port St. Lucie,
Fla
Mr. Taylor died Sept. 29 at
his home of an apparent heart
attack. He was a former
resident of Roanoke, Va., and
had served two tours of duty
with the armed forces over
seas. Buriel was at National
Military Cemetery, Culpep
per Va.
