tet of Corvallis were guests at
the Lexington Christian
Church Sunday. Following the
service, a pot luck dinner and
business meeting was held in

A caller at the home of Mrs.
Elsie Fox one day last week
was Bobby Wood, who was
enroute to his work at Ante
lope from his home in Wenat
chee. Mr. and Mrs. Rick Mar
quardt and son have returned
to their school at Pullman,
Wn., after spending the sum
mer in Lexington, where he
was employed. Mr. and Mrs.
Bill B. Marquardt visited
them on Monday of this week.
Mr. and Mrs. William J. Van
Winkle were weekend Port
land visitors.

home of Mrs. T.E. Messenger
Sr. Thursday afternoon, start
ing w ith a pot luck dinner
served in the yard at 12:30
p.m.
Plans were made for a
series of card parties to begin
the first Saturday in October
starting at 8 p m.'at the IOOF
Hall.
Contest rules will be the
same as the past. One must
play four out of six to be
elegible for the grand prizes.
Prizes will be given and
refreshments served at each
party.
Sewing dates to make arti
cles for Pioneer Memorial
Hospital were set, and a
discussion was held concern
ing the fall bazaar and food
sale. A committee of Ruth
Robinson and Elsie Fox were
appointed to select the place
and date.
The group was reminded of
the UN speeches by students
attending last year, Thursday
evening at 6:30 o'clock in the
IOOF Hall. This is a potluck
dinner for friends, families
and members of the lodges.
The door prize was won by
Leila Palmer. Co-hostess for
the day was Mrs. Charles
McConnell. Present were
Leile Palmer, Florence Mc
Millan. Irene Padberg. Eula
Bloodsworth, Catie Padberg,
Norma Marquardt, Elsie Fox,
Freda Majeske, Delpha Jones,
Vivian McConnell, Ruth Rob
inson, Betty Marquardt and
Mr. Messenger. The next
meeting will be at the Irene
Padberg home.
Christie Jake O'Brien of
Echo spent last week with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Gene Majeske.

saddened Monday by news of
the death of Mrs. Marvin
Hines early Monday at St.
Vincents Hospital in Portland.
Hildred had had heart surgery
there last Wednesday.

of Baker were here over the
weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Mattison and family and
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hire and
Son.

The date for the dance was
set for Nov. 17 at the Legion
Hall in Fossil. Proceeds from
the dance w ill go the Barbara
Mortimore Scholarship Fund.
Door prizes will be a $25

cate, and a chicken dinner for
two. Tickets can be purchased
from any member of the club
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Heim

week's vacation part of which

Sgt. Michael Wilson of the
us Air Force visited nis
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Wilson, in lrrigon while on
furlough. He has spent three
and a half years In Spain as a
jet mechanic. He has returned
to his base In Ft. Webb. Tex.,
now but expects to be dis
charged from the service by
Christmas.
Mr. and Mrs. Russet McCoy,
former lrrigon residents, ce
lebrated their 40th wedding
anniversary by repeating
their wedding vows at their
home in Vancouver, Wn.

went to the anniversary party
on Sept. 15 included Mr. and
