Alonzo Reid dies
Irene Anhorn of Central
Point was in Heppner recently
to take her mother, Mrs. Clara
Gertson, to funeral services in
Baker for her brother, Alonzo
D. Reid.
Mr. Reid was the last Reid
to have been associated with
the pioneer saw mill. Reid's
Mill, on Thorn Creek. He also
worked in the lumber yard
which first stood where the
Lois Winchester home now

and with his family came to
Oregon in 1901 and settled in
Heppner.
He finished his schooling
here, and served in the Army
during World War I. He went

recent death. Four brothers
preceded him in death.
He is survived by his widow,
Ruby, and one sister, Mrs.
Gertson of Heppner.
