Happenings in Lexington B pfiimujonfs Mrs Alio Harrison of Boardman was a Lexington caller Sunday where she visited relatives and friends William VanWmkle, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald VanWinkle of Salem, is visit me with his grandpar ents. Mr. and Mrs William J VanWinkle, and maternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cleveland of Hepp ner. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mar shall returned home this week from a vacation spent with relatives and friends in Washington and to the coast, where they enjoyed some fishing. Mr. and Mrs. John Ed wards and family and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yocom and family spent July 4 in Spokane. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yocom and family were weekend callers in Stevenson. Wdsh. Mr. and Mrs. L. McRob erts and son have returned home from a vacation in Newport and other coastal points. Mr. and Mrs. Henry M. Breeding and children of Gresham were Lexington callers Sunday, taking her mother. Mrs. Lydia Wilson, home for a short visit. Mrs. Wilson is employed at the Myra Peck home. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wy lie and son of Ft. Lewis visited her parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Edwards, one day last week. Mrs. Ruth McNiel of Pendleton visited her mother. Mrs. Elsie Fox, Saturday and attended the Hams Ployhar wedding in Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Morris McCarl returned Sunday from a trip to Las Vegas and Reno. Thursday they and a daughter, Sherri, drove to Harrisburg. where they visited with his mother. Mrs. Audrey McCarl, for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Mes senger Sr. spent July 4 with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball in Boardman. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Munkers and Edna Munkers were hostesses on the 4th for a Crabtree-Munkers reunion at Cutsforth Park. Present were Mrs. Archie Mur.kers' sister and hus band. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stender of Salem, and War ren Stender of Hermsiton: a sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen of lone and two grandchildren; a brother, Mr. and. Mrs. Leo Crabtree of Cecil and their daughter. Mr. and Mrs Wilbur Stea gall report that all of their children were able to attend, this being the first time in seeral years that all the Steagall family have been able to be together. Wilbur Steagall's and Lola Breed ing's mother, Cora Burnside, was the former Cora Shoun. and makes her home at Spray. Luncheon guests on Friday of the Wilbur Steagalls were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Steagall of Spokane. Mr. and Mrs. Columbia Basin will raise power rates The Columbia Basin Board of Directors has taken action to approve plans for a major rate revision, which, according to Dave Harrison, manager, will increase local electric rates approximately S percent, over -all. David Don, former chief engineer of the Oregon P.U.C., met with the board to review rate proposals. In his opening remarks he stated "you were required to maintain the rates as they were for five years w hen you made the property ex change with Pacific Power & Light Co., but you should have consolidated rates four years ago-or when Pacific Power & Light Co. raised rates in 1970." Mr. and Mrs. Bill Steagall and family of Pend leton; and a daughter and family, Mrs. Roger Brand enhagen of Pendleton, who were all here to attend the Karen Crowe 11 Doug Connor wedding in lone Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Le Bard. Scio. were guest of Mr. and Mrs Leo Russell Sr., Lexinton. They were neigh bors in Scio for eight years, until the Russells moved to West port for two years prior to moving to Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Petty john. Tami, Tracey and Kim moved last month to Hunting ton . end discrimination within rate classes." The rate consolidation will consolidate three residential rate schedules into a single rate. It will consolidate two small commercial rate sched ules into one rate schedule. The increase in revenues as a result of the rate schedule changes will amount to less than $50,000 a year on a current revenue level in excess of $1,100,000. An annual increase of approx imately $10,000 was placed jn effect for the 257 irrigation consumers effective Jan. 1. 1974. The current annual irriga tion revenues run about $280,000. The other rate revis ions will be effective May. 1974. The revisions must now be approved by B.P.A. and R.E.A. and would then be presented in some detail to the membership at the annual meeting on Nov. 1, in Condon. it is to the advantage ui employers and " workers to contact the Extension offices. Youth Employment Services in the Extension offices, at the Blue Mountain Telephone office in Spray, and Boardman City Hall have 70 local young people who are looking for all kinds of work. Many are willing to work on any kind of chores. Mr. and Mrs. Thonton taught at Astoria where Bernice re ceived a college grant, giv en by the State of Oregon, to get her masters degree. Pat decided to get his masters also, and they both are attending college at Monmouth On June 24 Mike Matthews attended a high school reunion at Lookinglass. It included everyone who attended high school there until 1944. when they consolidated with Winston High School Mike graduated 51 years ago. and of his class ther were two men and one woman attending. Mrs. Matthews and Denice spent the time in Roseburg visiting with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ball and son. Bill Knppaehene of Portland, who is working on a ranch at Wasco this summer, spent the weekend of June 30 visiting with Jim Swanson. Eight Pot Holders 4 H Club met at the home of Mrs Arthur Lindstrom on June 30. The first unit made tuna fish and egg salad sandwiches, and the second unit made brownies. They discussed the use of measuring liquids and solids. The next meeting will be July 18 at the home of Mrs. Art Lindstrom. Gordon Fletcher of Oregon City is visiting his grand mother. Mrs. Mabel Ring, and is planning to spend the summer here. Mr. and Mrs. John Bray Sr. of Hermiston and Mr. and Mrs. John Bray Jr. and family of The Dalles spent July 4 with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lindstrom and family at Penland Lake. A meeting was held July 5 at the home of Mrs. Adon Hamlett to make plans for class re unions. It was decided to have a picnic in the lone City Park on Sunday, Sept. 2.
