Dec. 12 It was administered by Mayor Chester Wilson. She replaces Ruth Coy who has served the City for 4 years. The purchase of an adding machine was authorized since the former recorder had used a personal machine. Three ordinances concerning water line extensions were read for the first time. Action will be taken at the January meeting. Semi-annual water revenue bond payments to F.H.A. were made on the two bonds held by them in the amounts of $1120 and $266 The bonds cover funds borrowed during construction of the City water system. It was reported that the City's Revenue share for half of 1972 had arrived in the amount of $437 A resolution was adopted creating a fund for it. Mayor Wilson recommended that it be committed to capital improve ments A second well is essential within the next 2 years and some 2000 feet of water line is needed to tie in dead end lines to form a grid or a loop. Both projects are top priority. Recommendations will be referred to the budget com mittee after further Council consideration. A letter was read from City Auditor Al Langenwalter con cerning $181 taxes which the County had erroneously charg ed to the City, on repayment of taxes on Boeing land. Family and friends of Carrie Berry, gathered at the Assem bly of God parsonage basement for a dinner Thursday after the graveside service, for Mrs. Berry at the Desert Lawn memorial Cemetery, in Irrigon. She had been a former area resident and is survived by her husband, Jay berry, of Port land. Christmas parties will be held in the rooms from 11:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Friday Dec. 22. School will be dismiss ed for Christmas vacation at 1:15 p.m. on Fri., to resume Jan. 2. Jancura of Seattle. Becky Burgess of Fruitland, Wash, has been a guest at the home of Pastor and Mrs. Wesley Cronk, during the past week. Carol Wiley who has been attending school in Santa Cruz, Calif, will be home for the holidays. Dennis Lamb, attending O.S.U. is home for the Christ mas vacation. m 1 1 NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER NOTES There will be no Advisory Board meeting on Dec. 25. TOPS will meet as usual on Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The Senior Citizens Nutrition will be held at the Center on Dec. 27 at 4:30; this change is because the school will be closed for Christmas vacation. On Dec. 28 the Senior Citizens social will be at the Center from 2-4 p.m. 5 ftKXDEEO. I : DRAWN BY JIM KENNY Santa Visits Christian Church The Heppner Christian Church had their Christmas potluck family dinner Dec. 17 In the church basement. The room was decorated in a festive manner and the food was aburdfit and delicious. After 'liuier the Christmas program was held upstairs. Each age group, from the "little ones" to the high school class, partici pated either with songs or recitations. The highlight of the evening, of course, was a visit from Jolly Old St. Nick! There were goodies from the tree for everyone and gifts for the smaller children. Klnzua Heart Surgery Going to Portland Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Guy Van Arsdale, where Pat entered St. Vincent Hospital. She will have hear! surgery on Friday. G-T WANT ADS PAY Mavor Chester Wilson administered the oath of office to the newtv appointed City Recorder, Mrs. Ted (Mary ) Wilson, at the Tuesday. City Council meeting Mrs. Wilson replaces Ruth Coy who has served in this position for 4 years. A Christmas party will be held for the children of the Catholic Church on Dec. 24. Santa Claus is coming to Irrigon on Sat. from 2 to 4 p.m. with candy for the youngsters. The tree will be at the Post Office yard, if the weather permits If the weather is bad, treats will be given at the Lion's Club Building. Santa Claus and treats are sponsored annually by the Irrigon Lions Club.
