PETTYJOHN'S 3 Farm & Builders Supply Heppner Schools Plan Christmas Programs Grade School On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the grade school will have their Christmas program in the Jr. High auditorium. Music will be provided by Mr. Jespersen's classes, grades 1 -8, and Mr. Hildebrpndt's band classes, grades 5, 6, 7, 4 8. This is the first year that the 5th grade band has participated in the program. The music will consist mostly of traditional Christmas songs. The first and second graders will present a skit, "The Christmas Butterfly" which includes both dialogue and songs. Some of the other songs will be "How Far to Bethlehem", by the 4th grade, "Silver Bells", by the 5th and 6th grades and the 7th and Bth grades girls chorus will sing five or six special choral arrangements of Christmas songs. Heppner Community Kindergarten The kindergarten program will be presented on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. in the grade school multi-purpose room. The children will sing Christmas songs and there will be some poems recited. Santa Claus will be at the party and distribute gifts for the little ones. This will also be the kindergarteners' Christmas party.. High School The Heppner High School Band and Chorus will have their Christmas program on Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. There will be many beautiful Christmas gongs play ed and sung. Among the selections the band will present will be "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "White Christmas". The chorus' music will range from Renaissance to contemp orary Christmas music. Some of their selections will be "Sister Mary Had -a But One Child", "Sleigh Ride" and "Bless The Lord". The chorus is under the directiort of Bob Jespersen and the band is directed by Larry Hildebrandt. Scouts Sell Christmas Trees The Heppner Boy Scouts brought in about 140 Christmas trees to the Ford Garage lot. TV last Saturday. Because of the cold weather, the boys have not been able to man it. Anyone wishing to take a tree is ivited to choose one and leave the money at the Elks Club, Gazette Times, John Gochnaur or Glen Ward. Charges are about $1.00 a foot but for only the good part, the boys say. Del Piper and Dail Turner took a group of boys up on Kinzua land on Jug Creek to cut trees.
