CHAMBER CHANGE Continued from Page 6 the Heppner-Morrow County Chamber Monday. Coach Mey ers had high praise for his team that went all the way to the championship game. This was the farthest lone had gone in 10 - 12 years. In 1960, lone was State Champions and in 1961 were in second place. Coach Meyers introduced the boys and gave a thumbnail sketch on each one: Kent Gutierrez who gained 1729 yards during the season; Dick Snider the coach considered him a better thrower because he had to throw the ball to a receiver who was covered and who was not out in the open; Jerry Pettyjohn an underated ball player who plays a tough defensive; Ed Winkelman, finest defensive lineman I've ever coached; Don McCarty, made super impossible catches; John Rietmann, smallest center in 8-man foot ball but he always got the ball to the quarterback; David Warren, who caught 4 passes for 89 yards. ..if he could have gone 89 more we'd won. John Kdniumlson Principal Edmundson said of Coach Meyers "He did a real championship job". He explained how the gate receipts were divided. At the semi-final game, gate receipts were $1400. After all the expenses including Hunt ington's travel etc. and the OSAA officials, the balance was divided 2 to OSAA and the 2 between lone and Huntington. At the final game, prices set by OSAA, the gate receipts were 3100. After expenses.OSAA gets 75 percent and the 25 percent is divided between lone and Alsea. ,14 Automoltive THANKSGIVING Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Myers went to Jerome, Idaho to spend Thanksgiving with his mother, Mrs. Walter Myers.
