mailed questionnaires while
over 30 others will he visited bv
enumerators. These inter

obtain needed information in a
short interview with the farmer.
All information, whether
gathered in person or through
the mails, is kept confidential
and only Stale and national
summaries are issued.
State and national acreage
estimates for winter wheat
Hecdings will be available

the count of chickens will be

Dr. Oldfield to Speak
at Farm - City Banquet
Fewer Oregon farms are
producing more and more of the
state's total food and fiber.
Fewer people are living on
farms and even less claim
"farmer" as their occupation.
These are just two of the facts
that emerge in a review of
Oregon agriculture during
National Farm - City Week
which ends Thanksgiving Day,
points out Don Stangcl, Morrow
County Extension Agent.
As a follow-up to the National
Farm City Week the Heppner
Morrow County Chamber of
Commerce and Morrow Co.
Livestock Growers Association
sponsors the annual Farm City
liunquct, December 8th at 7
p.m. in the Heppner High School
Cafetorium. The emphasis will
be on the changes in today's
agriculture. The Banquet
follows the 23rd Annual Meeting
of the Morrow County Livestock
Growers Association held in the
Elks Lodge starting at 1:00 p.m.
on the 8th of December.
The guest speaker for the
evening program is Dr. Jim
Oldfield, Head of the Depart
ment of Animal Science at .
Oregon State University.
Dr. Oldfield was recently
named the outstanding animal
scientist for 1972. He has
contributed greatly to research
in the area of mineral nutrition.
His work on the White Muscle
Disease problem was a key to
the linking of this disease to
Selenium deficiencies.

Dr. Shaffiti stated that he felt
that it was important that
