Varsity All of Ihe varsity players and Wade Padherg and Clayton Wilson were called to the front of the room to receive their letters and or certificates. If thev had already received a letter, the player was presented a certificate and if he had lettered in some other sport other than football he was given a football to wear on the letter. Letters are based on the number of quarters played in and Freshmen were included on the same basis or if for any reason the coaches felt a letter was deserved. Two freshmen were present ed with letters, Wade Padherg for his play at half hack and Clayton Wilson at hall-hack and full back and for his ill yard dash for a TD in the Maupin game. Weekly Awards Weekly awards in the areas of rushing, passing, blocking etc were given all season. Sophomores John Kilkenny, Kenny Eck man, Jerrv Gentry who was also named 2nd in conference in passing. Juniors Jack Chitty, Matt Greenup, Handy Morris, Karl Harrison, Mike Bergstrom named Con ference fullback. Seniors "Seniors really make the ball club" Coach Starr said before he presented letters to Jim Cutsforth smart enough to play any position: Jim McLaehlan fastest man on the team; Kick Drake Co-captain whose leadership was a tremendous asset, Dave Eckman who learn ed marvelous control. Dale Hedman co-captain who was named State Defensive Player of the Week for his accomp lishments in the Union game, Bill Jepsen, tough and if there was an award for plaving time he'd get it; Jeff Marshall, All Conference offensive guard; Benham Malcom earned many weekly awards and unhelieve- Home Ec Girls Show - Off Their New Clothes V- ; Dianne Cox chose a rust colored knit material lor a jacket with a scalloped effect collar. It is accented with gold buttons. As a home project, she also made a pair of wide legged slacks from coordinating fabric. There will he poems and dramatic readings from the English Department as well as some musical numbers from the Choir. Dance Team Dale Arrington, Cindy Hogers and Kitty Bellamy .are the newly elected members of the Goldt rotters, Heppner High's dance team, Louise Anderson was selected alternate. The girls tried out Nov. 9 to the song "Horn to be Wild", They filled vacancies on the dance team squad which were left by Diana and Donna Raymond who are moving to Pendleton, and by Donna Bellamy, who wus re cently named to the varsity rally squad The dance team is busy preparing several routines in preparation of basketball season. "Turkey Hop" Mrs. Meador's 7th grade class sponsored the junior high dance on Nov. 17 from 7:30 -10 p.m. at Ihe Heppner Grade. School. The room was decorated with fall leaves and turkeys and re freshments were provided by the kids and their parents. Chaperones were Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Cantm and Mr. una Mrs. Paul Warren. Other parents and members of the faculty were also present. About 60 young people attended and enjoyed dancing and lots of good fellowship. 'I ph Hour The tea hour preceded Ihe style show as mothers visited and enjoyed the many kinds of cookies the girls had made, Molly Pierce acted as narrat or for the style show. Modeling were Donna Bellamy, Krlsti Haguewood, Dorlndu Nance, Debbie Peck, Diana Raymond, Tracie Norene, Carol Pupineuu, Helen Byrnes, Cundi Mansfield. Twila Lung, Kathleen Hart lelt and Jean Knstman. The following girls used the Perfect fit pattern making and fashion styling system. Each girl selected different pattern pieces and created her own garment design. Then she took the pre-marked miniature pattern pieces and drafted them onto a paper full sized pattern. Theirs were original and sMcial. Modeling were: Dianne Cox, Patricia Hughes, Joan Kristmun and Sharon Wither rite. Lindu Panter is the instructor. SATSETFOK DEC. 2 The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) will be given Dec. 2 at IIIIS for those seniors who signed up for this test. The test is a three-hour objective lest of the verbal and mathematical abilities of candidates for college admis sion. The seniors will receive two scores, one for the verbul sections and one for the mathematical sections. These scores are reported on a scale extending from 200 to 800.
