The first annual Spud Days
Festival was voted a big
success by all who attended
and saw the parade last
Saturday afternoon as it
wound its way through the
streets of Boardman Gene
Miller, manager of Morrow
Produce Company, was
crowned Spud King at the
kick-off no host banquet heid
Friday night at the Dodge City
Inn The-e were 34 present

ceremonies Out of town
guests included Judge and
Mrs Paul Jones of Heppner.
Mr and Mrs Ray Dunn of
Oregon Potato. Inc. of
Umatilla. Mr and Mrs James
Westover, publishers of the
Pendieton Record and M:
and Mrs Kenneth Jones of
Lexington. Judge Jones was
principal speaxer. speaking
on agricultural developments
m the area, with emphasis on
potatoes Dunn also spoke
briefly . Pastor Neil King of
the Boardman Community
Church gave a recitation in
the form of an invocation Jim
Havnaer was recognized for
his efforts in assisting with the
promotion of the festival.
Kenneth Jones received the
door prize, donated by
Morrow Produce.
Following the banquet all
these present visited the
.Nomad Restaurant and the
Hitchm' Post.

day afternoon Earl Trudeau

by Mrs, Trudeau The parade
was led by the Honor Guard
and the American flag carried
by Cub Scouts Gene McKee.

Plans are being discussed to
include melons, com and
other projects in the affair
next year and call it the
Harvest Festival.

knew Mayor West, since he is

after all when you can stop in
