They had been made of wood
with the edge outlined in rope
She had painted the head of
each princess' horse in purple
on the board. The girls were
delighted with the gifts.
The affair climaxed a sum
mer of much entertaining and
being entertained They will
have this week then swing into
a week of Fair and Rodeo
frenzy
Sisters to Camp
Diana and Donna Raymond,
daughters of Mr and Mrs.
Arnold Raymond, returned
home August 12 from an
L.D.S CHl'RCH CAMP. They
staved a week. It is situated
near Seattle about 15 minutes
outside of Cle Elum. Diana
and Donna both say that they
had fun swimming in the
river, making frienas. crafts,
singing, teaching, and learn
ing new things. Next year, it
will be at Penland Lake here
a Heppner Diana was named
the best counselor for girls in
the 16 year old group. Donna
was named the best junior
counselor. There were 130
girls taking part in the
summer exercises.

Seehafers
A reception in honor of the
50th wedding anniversary of
Mr and Mrs W.G. Seehafer
will be given by their children
from two to five p.m. Sunday
August 20th at the Boardman
Grange Hall. Mr. and Mrs.
Seehafer were married Aug
ust 20, 1922 at The Dalles.
Oregon.

flannel skirt from the Carlson
family with high button shoes

Mrs Bill Rawlins wrote this
description of the dress she
modeled: "This simple tradit
ional wedding dress of lace
over satin was worn by
Marietta Phillips in 1910 for
her marriage to Claud Huston.
It was worn again by their
daughter Jane Huston 26
vears ago for her wedding to
Bill Rawlins at the family
ranch home in Eightmile. The
gown of net with lace inserts
has a high waistline held with
a satin cummerbund and
streamers. The silk tulle veil,
a bit fragile now, is held in
place by pink rosebuds. The
bridal slippers are of black
silk velvet."

the judges announced that Bob
Peterson won as best man
model; Mrs. John Venard was
the winning woman; and Mr.
and Mrs. Vic Lovgren and
Baby Padberg were the best in

Heath went to Salem for a
Bowling Jamboree Aug. 4-5-6.
New bowling rules were
discussed and explained. They
bowled in a singles tourna
ment Friday night. Bebe was
just three points out of the
money. On Saturday they
attended meetings and in the
evening a banquet and dance.
While in Salem they stayed
with Bebes brother and
sister-in -law. Mr. and Mrs.
Stan Sherrard at Woodburn.
On Monday, they went on to
Newport and visited with
LaVelle Nelson, former Hep
pnente. They took a 40-minute
cruise on the Trade Wind's
Kingfisher out of Depoe Bay
enroute back to Portland

with Sirs. Heath's brother-in-law
and sister -in-law. Mr. and
Mrs. Merle Abbott, and retur
ned home on Wednesday.

CONSUMERS SURVEY
The Soroptimists learned
how county residents feel
about the business operations
in the Heppner area when
Count v Agent Harold Kerr re
viewed the results of the
recent consumer question
naire at their last week s
luncheon. The survey pointed
out that several conditions
cause persons to shop outside
this area -one of these being
the fair. It was agreed that the
club memliers would attend
the Coronation Ceremony in a
group with their husbands.
There will lie no meeting
this Thursday; on the 24th the
meeting will be at the County
Fairgrounds
