HIGH PRIZE was won by Mrs. W.G. Seehafer and sec ond high went to Mrs. Rupe Kennedy. Mrs. Seehafer and Mrs. Walter Haves received the traveling pinochle prizes. GRANGE PICNIC Members of Greenfield Grange held their annual pic nic Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe in Hermiston. In the group were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen, Mrs. Bill Bates and children Stacie and Rob ert, Mrs. Rollin Bishop, Hazel Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Donovan. Zearl Gillespie, Mr. and Mrs. Wal ter Hayes. Mrs. Frank Mar low, Hazel Miller, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Seehafer, Andrew Skiles, Teresa Marshall and daughter Jennifer. Members of the Women's Activity Committee of the grange held a short business meeting following the picnic and the following hostesses were appointed for card parties for the next four weeks: July 18, Mrs. Dono van; July 23, Mrs. Miller; Aug. 1, Mrs. Chub Warren; Aug. 8, Mrs. Marlow. MR. AND MRS. ARTHUR ALLEN have returned home from a six week's trip to Europe. Calif, visi ted last week at the home of Barlow's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball. They also visited Mrs. Barlow's sister, Mrs. Leo Root. DONALD AND DEENO ' LEIGHTON, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Don Leighton, have been selected to play on the Colum bia Little League All Star team, and will playin the sub district tournament in Mad ras July 19-22. Navy grazing land for lease The Department of the Navy invites bids for the lease of land for grazing purposes at the Boardman Bombing Range, Morrow County. Bids are solicited for the lease of U.3-10 acres in the south portion of the range. Grazing of either cattle or sheep will normally be lim ited during each year for the period 1 October through 30 April. The lease term will begin on 1 October 1972 and end on 30 June 1973, with Lessee's right of re newal annually for four addi tional one-year periods. The general public is invited to bid. She has been visit tin family and friends in Baker, Ontario ami Burns. She is staying most of the summer with her mother, Mrs. Grace Curfnun in Baker. She was in Heppner last week the house guest of Mrs. Amanda Duvall. A few fri ends dropped in to see Mrs. Ullman on Wednesday. Her son, Wayne Ullman, arrived home from Austria this summer. Ho spent his Sophomore year at Stanford University in Vienna, Aus tria. He'll be at Palo Alto this fall for his Junior year. Mrs. Ullman is active in Washington DC as she is a member of the National Board of the Salvation Army. She also works on the two big benefit projects. One is a garden party for 3000 people to raise mmey for sunnier camp 'or children of Washing ton DC depressed families and on a Fashion Show in September to provide toys for them at Christmas. AUSTIN SMITH, who now lives in Portland, was in Heppner last week visiting Ins mother, Letha Archer. Dur ing his high school years, Mr. Smith worked for the Gazette-Times when the Crawfords ran the news paper. Ho remembers work ing on the high school annual in the back office of the G-T, and he said it turned out real well during those years. He also worked in the office of the Heppner Herald before his graduation from Heppner High School in 1925. Mr. Smith married the former Esta Miller, The Dalles, and they now live in Portland. He worked for Safeway for many years. He and Mrs. Don Robinson are cousins.
