MR. 4 MRS. LEO CRAB- TREE attended the Bridal veil Masonic Lodge and Salmon Bake at Cascade Locks on May 20. Meeting them at Cascade Locks were Mr. and Mrs. E E. Myers, Portland; Mr. and Mrs.L.C. Myers, Junction City; and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Goodwin, Por tland. Following the dinner, the Crabtree' s went to Port land with the group. Among tlte lone residents who attended the McGovern Rally in Pendleton on May 21 were Chris Pietmann, Mrs. Gene Rietmannand Mrs. Tom White. The annual lone Spring Con cert will be hold this eve ning, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. Each family is asked to bring 1 dozen fancy cookies. Par ents are asked to have the students at the school by 7:15. They are asked to wear dress up clothes. The lone third and fourth grade classes enjoyed a field trip to the Pendleton Woolen Mills on May 11. They were accompanied by their teach ers, Mrs. Franklin Ely and Mrs. Jerry Martin. Mrs. Keith Pea and Mrs. Harold Snider and Lindsay Kincaid also accompanied the group. They had a picnic lunch at the round-up grounds. There was a baseball game and all kinds of races. The sack races were in pt tato sacks. Winners were giv en silver dollars. The next meeting of Gre enfield Grange will start with potluck super at 6.30 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. as for merly announced to be June n. There were three tables of pinochle m play at the card party held last week at the Greenfield Grange hall, spon sored by tlie Women's Acti vity Committee of the grange. Hazel Carpenter was hostess. Mrs. Roy Ball led the devotional with "God Sees" from Our Daily Bread. The club has purchased a set of " People And Their En vironment" books to le put in the Riverside High School library. A set of eight books, this project was adopted by the National Council of Garden Clubs over a year ago. Each of the eight vo lumes was specifically deve loped for a different grade level study, to be used by the classroom teacher. A donation was made toward the purchase of an air condi tioner for the Good Samari tan Center in Hermiston. Mrs. Rollin Bishop read an article on maricolds. and Hazel Carpenter told of the different flowers that grow in Canada. Mrs. Arthur Allenreceived the door prize. Mr. Kerr explained some advantages of zoning. Planning Commission lias not made a decision on condition al use permit fees. A question was raised on whether zoning a piece of projierty might raise taxes.
