After servlnr the lone com munity fir 21 years at the Chevron station, Mr. Burnett has accepted the position as Assistant Manager of the Round-Up Tire Service in Pendleton. Jini, born and reared in lone, is married to the form er Ixlores Madden, fro-n Hermistott. The couple have two children, Rick, an lone Hif.h School senior, and D Ann, a junior. Mrs. furnett is enipl oyed at the Bank of Eastern Oregon, lone branch, as a hookkeejH T. During his years at lone, Jim has active in sev eral organizations. He vias a charter member of the Lions Club, of which deserv ed as local president and was a Deputy District Governor. A former mayor of lone, Jim is also a past commander of the A niericanLepior. Post No. 9j, and past master of Mj sons, to which he las Mous ed for 23 years. He is also a past worthy patron of East ern Star and is a 24-year rnemW r of Elks. Jim also served on the lone Advisory hard. He wishes to thank all of his customers and hopes Hut they will continue to pat ronize the new owner. The Burnetts will continue to live in lone for an indefinite per iod. MR. LANCASTER brings previous station-business ex perience with him, as he was manager of a Mobil station in Chi capo, from 19C5-G6. West Virginia is where Gene hails from. He came to lone in May of 19G9, so is known by many Morrow County res idents. Prior to purchasing the Chevron station, he was a ranch fund for Lindstrom Brothers. Gene is married to the former Evelyn Marrlck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Marick. Evelyn Is manager of the Cecil store. Called Tien One of Pack CC7 it's institutional sponsor is the Boardman Tillicum Club. Den mothers are Mrs. Jerry Peck, Mrs. Gene Trum bull and Mrs. John Harvey. Jerry Peck is the institu tional representative and the executive committee is John Harvey, chairman, Ron Dan iels, Dan Daltoso, Pastor Neil bull and Mrs. Rod Flug, secretary-treasurer. The boys went on a recent outing with the Corps of En gineers from McNary Dam, crossing the dam and going to a Wildlife Refuge on the Washington side of the river across from Irrigon where they planted berry bushes and trees. Parents accompany ing them were Mrs. Peck, Mrs. Bill Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey, toso and Flug. The Boardman GardenClub met Monday night of last week at (lie home of Mrs. Roy Ball. Roll call was answered by naming a noted woman gar dener. The club voted a donation to tie sent to CAFE, also one to the Claire Hanley Research Fund, National Life Member ship, Natice Flora Conser vation, Teacher's Conser vation Workshop and the Wil lamette National Cemetery. The club will furnish Eas ter favors for patients at the Umatilla Hospital. Mrs. Follin Bishop present ed a program on "Myster ious behavior of birds", namely, wood ducks, song sparrows, swallows, and tur tle doves. Mrs. Leo Foot received the door prize. Walter Rietmonn Services Held At lone Church Walter Rietmann, 82, died in lone March 23. He was a lifetime resident of the area and was a retired wheat rancher. He was born on June 29, 1889 on the family ranch near lone, the son of Paul Riet mann and Margaret Glock. Mr. Rietmann was a 60 year member of the Oddfellows Lodge and a 50 year member of the Rebekahs, Bunchgrass Lodge No. 91. He is survived by three brothers, David and Omar of lone and Bob of LaHabra, Calif.; two sisters, Anna Stith and Alice Peterson both of The Dalles; numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held Mon., March 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the lone United Church of Christ with the Rev. William Arthur officiating. Interment was at High View Cemetery with Sweeney Mortuary in charge of the arrangements. Bearers were Van Riet mann, Gene Rietmann, Bill Rietmann, Bob Rietmann, Wayne Rietmann and Harold Rietmann, all nephews of the deceased. pi? Larry Phillips, fire chief of Boardman, presented the les son on "Burns and treat ment," and demonstrated the use of the city's resuscita tor. Mrs. Frank Marlow gave the lesson on " Poisons" and emergency treatment. Mrs. Albert Warnock gave the Eye-opener, subject of of which was 'Communi cate Your Good Feelings About Others." The group made plans for the Home Extension ACHIE VEMENT DAY for Morrow County which will be held in Boardman APR. 21 at the Greenfield Grange hall. The theme will be "P. I.E. In The Sky." 'Andy Landforce will speak on "Family Recreation." Boardman Bits The mobile home that hat housed the Inland Empire Bunk at Boardman the past two years has been removed and they have moved Into the new building. There are a few things to be done for completion. The bank sets back on the lot with a hand some rail fence enclosing the yard area. The fence rails are set In cemented natural rock pillars.
