Dime-A-Dip Dinner And Family Fun at LDS Halloween Fete The Women' Relief Society of th Heppner Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Lat ter day Saints arranged a Hal loween family party at the Leg Ion Hall last Friday night. About -10 gathered for the dime a dip pot lurk dinner. Af ter ainner a cake walk was held and 7 cakes were given as prize. "Visitors are always wel come," Mrs. Palmer said, "but we are putting on company manners this week and making a special invitation to the pub lic to attend." The Sabbath School program centers around personal Bible study, according to Mrs. Palm er. A discussion group considers an assigned passage or topic. The discussion this week will be on Home Relations and is en-! titled, "Making Spiritual Values Relevar.t." Special features in this week's program will in- and Elma Harshman. Earlier in the day all veteran members had received a gift from Sans Souci. A delightful little skit was accorded Mrs. Paull in presenta tion of Sans Souci's gift. Opal Cook read a story about an Odd Fellow tree with the various leaves nad branches represent ing the president's program and as these were mentioned Adelle LeTrace and Ola Ruggles de posited silver coins in a daisy emblem ized jewel box. The president's formal attire rich lace over shimmering green was that she wore as an officer in the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies in Vancou ver, B. C, in September. The evening dinner was served in the Odd Fellow Hall by ladies of the Methodist Church. Mr. Brown Is remembered as a for mer manager for Kinzua here. Later he was a manager for Georgia-Pacific Corporation. He is now retired. The Browns also visited their friends Mr. and Mrs. Phil Ma honey. Mr. and Mrs. Prindle left this Tuesday for the Pacific Logging Conference In Portland. Mr. Prindle is a director of this con ference. The Prindles will be gone nil week. UNICEF Garners 81.82 in Drive Eighteen 4th graders from Jessie Fa ye Morris' room assist ed by four 6th graders collected for UNICEF Sunday evening. After each had counted his money and totaled It for their math lesson Monday, they had a deposit of $81.82. The sixth graders who helped were Kathy Wolff, Kathy Palm er. Pam Cantin and Rosemary Winter. The four who turned In the most received an extra treat. They were Ron Young, Troy Simmons, Jackie Gentry and William Huston. A Girl For Dan Mc Bride's The Dan McBrides' got just what they wanted ... a daugh ter. Melinda Lee was horn Oct. 28 and she weighed 7 lb., 11 oz. She has a brother, Michael Paul, 19 months. D. lone Church Annual Dinner This Sunday Mr. Milton Essig, a member of the United Church of Chirst at Beavcrcrook, Oregon, near Oregon City, will address the Annual Stewardship Dinner at lone this Sunday. His topic Is Stewardship Education. Special music is planned. Rev. Wes Crunk and his wife, Wanda, from the Irrigon As sembly of God. who are exper ienced recording artists, will sing, and Greg Wilson, lone High School, will also perform. This Fall Stewardship potluck dinner is an annual event at the United Church of Chirst. Rev. Arthur says the public may attend, but the dinner is pri marily for the regular church families. This lesson is designed to show one how to maintain nor mal weight by sensible, proper nutrition. It will bring out that one can maintain normel weight without going on a fad or crash diet, and without going through near starvation. It is possible to lose weight and not feel hungry.
