Show Them The Way To the Kitchen The future homemakers class in the corner was devoted to . those entering the canning di vision and the candy division. Premiums were $1.25 for a blue ribbon; 75c for a red ribbon and 25c for a white ribbon. Canning There were Subdivisions made up in each of the three categories, and in the canning division, it was broken down to, vegetables, berries, fruit, jam, jelly and pickles. Of these food's, tell me which is a childs favorite to eat. If you said piclo les, you're right. This was the only class entered. Jay Sullivan Palmer placed first with her muffins and Debra came in with a close second. Karmin Brannon of Heppner placed third with her muffins and Becky Hobbs of Irrigon had the only other entry. Cheri Griffith of Heppner has learned her lesson with bak ing powder a)nd apparently learned it well. She received a blue ribbon on her baking pow der biscuits. Best man for his brother was Mike Knight of Fossil with Truman Smiley, bro Anita Palmer and Becky Hobbs love fudge and fudge making. Mrs. Troy Day accompanied herself when she sang, "We've Only Just Begun" and "For All We Know". The Wedding marches were played by Mrs. . Robert Kelso. Miss Vlcki Wham of Portland was in charge of the guest book with Miss Kathy Nelson attend ing the gift table. Immediately after the ser vice, a reception was held in the church annex where a three-tiered cake, decorated in yellow and white, and topped with a bride and groom center ed the serving table. After the young couple cut and shared the first slice of cake, it was cut and served by Mrs. John wea ser and Mrs. Truman Smiley. Coffee was served by Mrs. Clyde Britt, grandmother of the groom with Mrs. Mike Knight serving the punch. The gift table was covered with a white lace cloth over yellow. The new Mrs. Knight is a graduate of Wheeler High School with Mr. Knight having attended school in Portland. They left for a wedding trip to the Oregon Coast and will make their home in Kinzua where David is employed by Kinzua Corporation. Maybe mother had something to do with changing their minds about pulling of the taffy. In the catch-all candy class, Donna Palmer of Ione placed first, Debora Palmer placed sec ond and Karmin Brannon plac ed third. Also entering in this division was Anita Palmer of Irrigon. Lexington Clubs Resume Activities LEXINGTON The Three Links Club of Holly Rebekah Lodge met at the home of Mrs. Archie Munkers, Thursday, for the first meeting of the fall. Chairman Ruth Robinson pre sided. It was decided to have a series of six card parties, the rules being the same as in the previous series a person must play four out of the six series to be eligible for the grand prize. There are highs and lows for both men and women giv en at each party. Refreshments will be served at the end of each evening. Several items to be sold at the fall bazaar, Nov. 20, were marked. Mrs. Al Fetsch and Mrs. William Smethurst invited the group to meet t the Fetsch ranch home near Pendleton in October. Those present were Mrs. Florence McMillan, Mrs. Irene Padbenr, Mrs. A. F. Ma- jeske, Mrs. Annie Keene, Mrs. Eula Bloodsworth, Mrs. Ralph Burcham, and special guests Mrs. Ruth McCabe of Ione and Mrs. Dottie Allstott of Heppner. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Back from Alaska Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Palmer and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall have all returned front Alaska visits. The Palmers took their grandson Scott home after his summer visit with them. They visited their daughter Janet Crabtiee, Scott's mother, at Jun eau. The Marshalls also enjoyed visiting Janet, their granddau ghter. They also had a fine sight-seeing trip through the inland passage along southern Alaska and the Canadian coast. Mr. and Mrs. Oris Padberg have had as their guests this past week Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beck of Stockton, Ca., and Mrs Edna Langland of Modesto, Ca., both sisters of Mrs. Padberg. Amicitia Club's Annual Meeting The Amicitia Club held its an nual meeting at the Lovgren mountain home Saturday night. The evening began with a pot luck dinner attended by the fol lowing couples: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Elden Padberg, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pad berg, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Cox Mr. and Mrs. Gene Cole, Mr, and Mrs. Joe Yocom, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Pettyjohn, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Piper, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lovgren and Mrs. Bob Davidson. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jones spent the weekend at the Glenn Pay ton home in Keating with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jones as their guests on Sunday. Lexington Cub Den Meets Mrs. Bob Harrison held the first den meeting of Lexington's Cub Scouts at her home on Wed nesday of last week. The group studied puncture vine and how to get rid of it. Craig Howard was elected denner of the week. Mrs. Harrison reports that there is room for more in this club and says she would enjoy hear ing from any boy wanting to join. Friends from Wasica, 111., ar rived Friday to visit with Mrs. Grace Buschke. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hamilton come out to Morrow County about every two years. IRRIGON NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Batle Rand re. turned this week from a camp ing and fishing trip near Wald- port. They fished up the Aisea River on the incoming tide, from their aluminum fishing boat.
