Boardman Has Two Big Reunions By MABT LEE MARLOW 1 BOARDMAN Mrs.' Leo Root and her sister, Mrs. Max De weese of Grandview, Wash., were hostesses last Friday and Saturday for the annual reun ion of the Mefford family, held at the Greenfield Grange hall. There were 65 in attendance. ' Those attending included Mr. and Mrs. A. I. Mefford of Pasa dena, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barlow of Grass Valley, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Russell Mefford and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Root and daughters Becky and Paula of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Macomber of Citrus Heights, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mef ford of Salem and their grand children Keely and Kalin Filler of Estacada, Mr. and Mrs. Arth ur Mefford of Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Root and daughter Jane of Wasco, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Deweese and Kristin Young of Corvallis, Mr. and Mrs. David Pinkston and daughters Darlene, Betty Jean and Cynthia of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mefford and child ren Linda and Sharon of Long view, Wash., Mrs. Edity Dull and son Dana of Corvallis, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knuth and children Robbie, Rynnie, Randy and Bekah of Yakima, Wash., St. and Mrs. John H. Another reunion, that of the Barlow family, was held Sun day at the Greenfield Grange hall with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball, and Mr. and Mrs. Truman Mes senger of Lexington as hosts. There were 46 present. To Shakespeare Theatre Mrs. Mervin Leonard and Greg Davidson were among those who motored to Ashland last week to attend the Ashland Shakespeare Theatre. Mrs. Erda Pieper had as house guests over the weekend her grandson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Dick and sons. Paul Morey returned home last week after a business trip to Portland. Mr. and Mrs. A. Donald Majeske has returned to his home at Deer Park, Wn, after the summer In Lexington at the Gene Majeske home. LONEROCK NEWS LONEROCK Linwood Carter and Cris Davis joined a party of boys from Oregon and Wash ington on a back pack trip from Sunrise Park to Mt. Rainier where they will go on a 50 mile hike. The boys were re quired to take along sleeping bags and food to last for seven days. Pastor Hall was one of the leaders and the group Intends to return home after spending a week In the wilds. Mrs. Ellen Rogers accompa nied the Mallgrens to The Dal les last week from an extended visit with the Lester Harrison family. Sunday the Christen family and Mrs. Cecil McDaniel and children from Hardman had a picnic dinner with C. Davis at his mountain cabin on Brown Creek. They also had a swim in the ponds that went well on a hot day. Clayton Morgan from Condon was a business visitor at Lone rock Friday. Major Carter is now released from the service after a 20-year period for our country. He and his family spent many years in Germany and the children attended school while there. They can now speak the Ger man language and enjoyed being in a foreign country. EOC Honors Three Co-eds Among the 49 students whose grades put them on the dean's list for summer session at East ern Oregon College were three from Heppner, according to Dr. James R. Hathhorn, dean of stu dents. Of those listed, 12 earned per fect averages of 4.0, including Susan J. Jepsen of Heppner. To be eligible for this honor listing, students must take at least 12 hours with letter grades. The honor listing Is as of grade time Aug. 16. Those with 3.5 averages in cluded Linda R. Cooper, Carol S. Jones, both of Heppner. Paul McCarty Graduates Navy Fireman Apprentice Paul D. Science Teacher Here Stan Addison came back to Hpnnner Sundav. He went to school this summer at OCE. He took additional courses in Chemistry and Physics. He tpflphpa Karth Science. Chemis try and Physics at Heppner High School. He was at National Guard C.nmn at Fort Lewis for two weeks. He attends monthly drill at Salem. Stan and his co-worker Tom Shear, the Art teacher, will be living in the Dick Robison home at 50 N.
