Thundery, July 0. 1971 Barzee - Whitbeck Repeat Nuptial Vows : KINZUA In a stnglo ring ceremony performed Friday, July 11, by Judge Clarence Ash or at the Wheeler County Court house In Fossil, Miss Joyco Bar tee, daughter of Mr. and Mra. Delbert Barzee of Klnzua, be came the bride of Mark Whit beck, son of Mr. and Mra. Mon te Whitbeck of Condon. The bride woro a white street length dress and carried PinK ana white, carnations. Witnesses for the couole were Linda Hinge: of Klnzua and Monte Whitbeck of Condon. A reception was held after the ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Campbell The couple will make the! first home at Hood Kiver. The ni-w Mrs. Whitbeck was a graa uate of Wheeler High School with the class of 1971. Arriving lat Tuesday to vis- It with Pastor and Mrs. William Mai and family were Mr. and Mis. George Killich of Ann Ar bor, Mich. Also visiting the Mai's Is a nephew, Jerry Wright of Levlttown, Pa. Jerry had flown to Portland with Mr. and Mrs. David Mai who were re turning from a year and a half in the missionary Held at Ad dis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Mai's had gone to Portland to greet their son and his wife and bring Jerry to Klnzua while the younger Mais went to M. hci ens to visit Mrs. David Mai's family. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Berg mov cd during the vacation to Sel ah, Wash., where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Arlet Campbell and daughter Andrea spent the first week of the vacation on a trip that took them to Eur eka, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Benson returned Sunday from a vaca tion trip tt) Las Vegas, Nev., and then they went on to Albany to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Benson. Mrs. Jack Wilsey and grand son Walt Bjur went to Bremer ton, Wash., Tuesday of last week to assist Mrs. Wilsey's niece Carolyn Llppert move her household goods to Portland. The Wilsey's have received word that their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wil sey have moved from Van Nuys, Calif., to Oconomowoc, Wis., where they have purchased a home. Richard Is employed as an industrial engineer for the Carnation Company and is now going to school to get his mech anical engineering degree In machine design. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rice and family spent the first part of their vacation at Lake Tahor and at Reno before going to Medford where Mrs. Rice par tlclpated In a bowling tourna ment. Also In Medford were Ha zel Kandle, Ann Asher, Lavina Conner, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ball ey, Mr. and Mrs. Don Slinkard Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jellick, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hulett Miss Denlse Howard of Hood River was a house guest last week of Mrs. Jack Smiley and daughter Wanda. Jack Smiley nas been on a trip during va cation to North Carolina to vis it his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hor ace Smiley, former residents of Klnzua. Mr. and Mrs. Albert White and family of Portland spent last weekend visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Denzll White. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dunlap and family of Grass Valley and Mrs. Dunlaps mother, Mrs. Batz of Germany visited last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bud Dunlap. On Thursday of last week, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Dunlap went to Heppner to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Art Watklns and family and where Mr. Dunlap had a birthday dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jones and son Bobby went ot Heppner Monday where Bobby had med icai attention. The Friendship Club had their regular card party on June 9 at the grade school with Rose Merry Nelson as hostess. High went to Sharon Bell with second high to Carol Norrls. Pinochles went to Molba Mitchell and Evie Luper. Others playing were Ruth Carey, Bonnie Campbell Pat McMinn, Deena Retd, Doris Stubblefield, Cindi Weaser, and Becky Wright. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norris and Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Murdock went to Union on June 12 where they square danced with the Union Whirlauays and on Sun day went to Kennewlck to dance with the Prairie Shuff lers. Spending since June 16 at Medford with Mr. and Mrs. El mer Everett were Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Murdock. They attend d the State Square Dance Fts .fival at Grants Pass. Going down to Medford Friday where they joined the Murdocks at the Everetts were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norris and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cochran of Condon. Also attend ing the Festival at Grants Pass were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Sad dler and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jew itt of Condon. Mrs. Marie Hulett of MeNary and Mrs. Marie Rhoton of Man .anlta visited friends in Camp 5 and at Klnzua last Wednes day. David Hunt of Fossil took Miss Susan White to Estacada recently whore she will be em ployed for the Rummer by Mr, and Mrs. Don Burgcner. Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Conner left Monday afternoon for Bak er where they will visit rela tlves and do some fishing. They had been down to visit mem bors of their family and been to tho coast. Mr. and Mrs. Bernerd Dyer and son and Mrs. Leslie Mall oroy and Tim lert 'juesnay morning for St. Maries, Idaho, to visit Mrs. Malloroy's mother, Mrs. Arthur Reichelt. Mrs. Jack Sltton took her dau enter Rita to Wallowa Lake Sunday where Rita is employed at Wallowa Lake Lodge for the summer. On Sunday, Jack bit- ton went to Portland to meet his sister, Mrs. Fred Worley of Lakemont, Ga., and on Monday Mr. Sitton and Mrs. Worley flew to Los Angeles, Calif., where they will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sears at Hunting ton Beach. Miss Debbi Sitton of Roseburg is visiting here with her grandparents and with David Sitton In Fossil. Newcomer At Lex Honored LEXINGTON Mrs. Bob Da vidson entertained with a bridge and pinochle party one day last week honoring Mrs. Ron Riley, a new Lexington resident. Bridge players present were Mrs. Elden Padberg, Mrs. Dean Hunt, Mrs. Mervin Leonard, Mrs. John Led better, Mrs. Lester Cox, Mrs. Art Watkins, and Mrs. Davidson, with pinochle players Mrs. Wm. VanWinkle, Mrs. Lee Padberg, Mrs. Morris McCarl and Mrs. Delbert Piper. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yocom and Mildred were Portland visitors last week where Mildred had the pin removed at Good Samar itan Hospital, which was placed there from a broken arm. Jason VanWinkle, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy VanWink le, is visiting with his grand parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J, VanWinkle this week. He lives in Pendleton. Frankle Robinson is now liv Ing in Portland where he is at tending a welding school. He was home for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Doherty had the following members of their family home over the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Doherty of Pendleton, Nancy, Maureen, Roger and Martha of Eugene and Becky, who Is still at home. A son Tony who is in the service was unable to be present with the family. Roger, who has made his home in the east is now in Eugene where he is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Asa Way and children of Portland have been visiting at the Marvin Way home for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt and family spent the holidays at J Lehman Springs. At Martins and Reas Mr, and Mrs. Tom Martin and children who have been living in California were called to Lex ington by the death of his grandmother Mrs. Emma Cecil. Tommy left on Tuesday for Oklahoma where he will attend school and Mrs. Martin and children will remain here to vis it his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Martin and her parents, Mr. and Mr. Clell Rea. Mr. and Mrs. Dewie Lovelace and family of Ontario were weekend visitors at the home of his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones. Donald Majeske and his moth er Mrs. Gene Majeske were Port land callers a couple of days this week. Mrs. Marilyn Harris of Phoe nix, Ariz., Diane, Taml, and Ron of Omaha, Neb. , are visiting Mrs. Harris' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Munkers. A family get-together was enjoyed on Tuesday when sisters of Mrs. Munkers, Miss Edna Luttrell. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Earwood of Soap Lake, Wn., and Mr. and Mrs. C, L. They were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. BUI Dalrympie and on Sunday attended the Square Dance Club's picnic at Holiday Park. Others from here attend ing tho dance were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Saddler, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bell of Fossil, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cochran and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jewett of Condon. Summer Travelers Mr. and Mrs. Ned Nickelsen of Portland spent the weekend here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Willis Wright, Sr. They were en- route home after having spent the past week vacationing at Lake Tahoe. Don Oyler of Bend is visiting with relatives in Kinzua for awhile. Mr. and Mrs. Jlggs Bowman and family returned home Fri day from their vacation. They spent part of their time visit ing Mr. Bowman's family, Mr. and Mrs. Leighton Strom at Cas tle Rock, Wash., and then visit ed the Oregon and Washington beaches. Mr. and Mrs. Norwood Watts and family returned Saturday from two weeks visiting their families at Santa Rosa and Red Bluff, Calif. Pastor and Mrs. William Mai and family are spending this week at a ministers conference held annually at Cannon Beach. Mrs. Wilma Mabe returned home last Wednesday from Port land where she had been visit ing with Mr. and Mrs. James Cloud and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Sizemore. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parton and sons spent part of their va cation time on a trip to Milpitas, Calif., where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hire. When they came home they brought Kelly Hire home with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Don MeConnell spent their vacation on a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. While in Utah they visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Flack, former residents of Klnzua. Visiting last week with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Luper were Mr. and Mrs. Spike Hennessey and family of Coos Bay. Also at the Lupers are Cindy and Cathy Sparks of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Brahm re turned home Tuesday from spending the week visiting rel atives at Reno, Nev., and Springfield, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dyer spent their vacation taking care of their places at Buxton and also visiting with friends and rela tives near there and at Oakridee with Mr. and Mrs. James Lyche and family. Mrs. Lyle Muzzy went to Port land Saturday to meet Mr. Mux zy who arrived from Thome Bay, Alaska on his vacation. Mr. Muzzy will be here for two weeks. Mrs. Muzzy took Mrs. Paul Muzzy to Portland Monday for a checkup and took Cheryl In Portland they visited with Miss Genine Hardwick. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Wallace of Springfield were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Denzil White. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Dunlap were weekend business visitors to Grass Valley during the week end. Mrs. Mel Schluckebier and Mrs. Grady Rogers spent last Tuesday in Pendleton on business. Mrs. Jack Wilsey took her grandson Walt Bjur back to his home at Newburg last Wednes day.' Mrs. Wilsey returned home Friday. Mrs. Doyal Hubbell was able to come home Saturday from Mid-Columbia Hospital in The Dalles where she had been re ceiving treatment for some time. She will still have to take things easy for awhile. Mrs. Danniel Bell and daugh ter Jeannette have both been re ceiving treatment at the Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner since last Thursday. They hope to return home this week. Ther esa was here for Marsha Sow ell's wedding. They are cousins. She has returned to Sacramento State where she is a senior. Her major is in Sociology with em phasis on Juvenile Problems.
