High was won by Mclba Mitchell, second high by Ruth Carey, and pinochles by Sue Mattlson and Roberta Conlee. Lex TOPS Club Elects New Officers LEXINGTON The Lexing ton Leaner Tops Club met at the City Hall on Tuesday for their regular meeting ana eiec tlon of officers. Elected were Mrs. Erda Piper as leader, Mrs. Ralph Crum as co-leader, Mrs. Harold Huber. secretary and Mrs. Florence McMillan treasur er and Mrs. Homer Hughes as the weight recorder. The ladies are planning an installation of officers for March 30 witn Mrs C. C. Jones as installing officer. The Past Noble Grand Club of Holly Rebekah Lodge met at the home of Mrs. Florence Mc Millan with Mrs. Frank Robin son acting as co-hostess on Wednesday. This was a special meeting with the purpose of planning the luncheon set for Sans Souci and Bunchgrass PNG clubs. A lovely dinner, planned in the St. Patrick's motif was held at 12:30. Present were, Mrs. Joel Engleman and Mrs. Delsle Chapel. Mrs. Archie Munkers, Mrs. Joe Yocom, Mrs. Oris Pad berg, Mrs. A. F. Majeske and Mrs. C. C. Jones. Door prize was won by Mrs. Chapel. Mike Burcham, who is em ployed in Ontario, was a week end visitor at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Burcham, and Kenneth Jones. Irish violin music by Mrs. Ken Smouse and a game on MONEY was enjoyed. The game gave in teresting facts, and superstitions concerning money and different things used In exchanges as money. A game was played with Mrs. Ed Hunt winning first prize. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Green of Athena, visited his mother, Mrs. Cleo VanWinkle on Sun day. . The Lexington Bridge Club met at the home of Mrs. Bob Davidson on Wednesday eve ning with the following ladies present: Mrs. Mervin Leonard Mrs. John Ledbetter, Mrs. Les ter Cox, Mrs. Elden Padberg, Mrs. C. C. Carmichael, Mrs. Inez Huffman, Mrs. Gene Cutsforth and the hostess. Prizes were won Boardman Grange Names Committees cham motored to Portland Sat urday after Miss Linda Starks, bride ' elect of Kenneth Jones, who will be spending some time at her home in Heppner, with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Starks. Vickie Irvin, of Hood River was an overnight guest Satur day at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones, and motored to Hermis ton on Sunday to visit a sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Smith, returning later in the week for a further visit in Lex ington. Mr. and Mrs. Burke O'Brien of Pendleton were overnight visitors at the home of her par ents Mr. and Mrs. Gene Majes ke. Three Links to Make Quilts Three Links Club met at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Palmer on Thursday. Plans were made to tie and quilt quilts for mem bers and a sewing day has been set for the home of Mrs. Irene Padberg. St. Partick's rememb ranees for secret sisters were ex changed, and refreshments serv ed to Mrs. L. A. McCabe of lone, Mrs. Annie Keene, Mrs. Oris Padberg, Mrs. Eula Bloodsworth, Mrs. A. F. Majeske, Mrs. Archie Munkers, Mrs. Frank Robinson, Mrs. Irene Padberg, Mrs. Flor ence McMillan, and Mrs. C. C. Jones and hostess. Door prize was won by Mrs. Robinson. Lex. Grange Plans April Initiation Lexington Grange met on Sat urday night with the Master Ed ward Hunt in the chair. Mrs. Ed na Munkers was voted in as a member and 4 other names read for membership. It was decided to Invite an initiation team from by Mrs. Cutsforth, hi, Mrs. Car michael second hi, and Mrs. Da vidson, low. Lindsays Welcome Son Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lindsay are the proud parents of a son born March 12 at St. Anthony HosDital in Pendleton. The young man tipped the scales at 7 lb., and has been named Ber nard Patrick. Paternal grand mother is Mrs. A. C. (Rosella) Lindsay of Lexington and ma ternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Al Remily of Milwaukie. Great Grandpa Lindsay lives in Hermiston. He joins another bro ther and three sisters at home. By MARY LEE MARLOW BOARDMAN The Women's Activity Committee of Green field Grange had committee heads appointed for the year at their meeting at the grange hall Wednesday afternoon of last week with Mrs. Roy Ball and Mrs. Leo Root as hostesses. Guests were Mrs. M. I. Oveson and Mrs. Rollin Bishop. Committees appointed includ ed; Relief and benevolence, Mrs. Ball; civil defense, Mrs. Leon ard Bedord; program, Mrs. W. G. Seehafer; historian, Mrs. Root; hospitality, Mrs. Arthur Allen; membership, Mrs. Bill Bates; Mrs. Frank Marlow and Mrs. Na than Thorpe, decoration, Hazel Carpenter; finance, Mrs. Bernard Donovan and Mrs. Walter Hayes; publicity, Mrs. Marlow. Mrs. Ball reported that the quota for the club for entries in the state grange sewing con test is six. They must be turn ed in to Mrs. Donald Baker by April 30. A donation was voted to the Heart Fund, and one-half a scholarship to Girls' State for a student from Riverside High School. Card party hostesses appoint ed were: March 16, Mrs. Baker; March 23, Mrs. Warren; March 30, Mrs. Carpenter; April 6, Mrs. Leonard Bedord; April 13, Mrs. Seehafer; appointed for the next night party to be March 27 were Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Bates. The hostesses for the next meeting April 14 will be Mrs. Marlow and Mrs. Larry Phillips. Meeting will be at the grange hall at 12:30 p.m. sponsored by the Women's Ac tivity Committee of the grange. Mrs. Frank Marlow was hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Sharp went to Pendleton Thursday on business and on to Weston to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Homer Grogan. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norris and Mr. and Mrs. Ilerschel Murdock went to Condon Friday where they were dinner guests of Mr, and Mrs. Jim Cochrane. After dinner, this group with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jewctt went to The Dalles where they visited the Swap 'N Swing Square Dance Club. An Executive meeting of the Camp 5 Women s Club was held Wednesday evening at the Camp 5 Community Hall with five members present. Hostess for the evening was Rose Hardwick with Carol Thomas in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Hardwick re ported on the revision. Spending the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Don Hardwick and Donny were Miss Genine Hardwick and Miss Reba With am of Portland. W. C. Freeman returned home Sunday from several days spent visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bogle and sons Josh and Math ew at Twin Falls, Idaho. Fire Destroys Cabin A fire at 2 a.m. Sunday mor ning in a cabin next door to Richard Mortimore's house at Camp 5 completely destroyed the cabin. It was thought to have been started by children having been playing with matches earlier tho day before. nnj Mrs, Jack Smiley were bus- Mr. and Mrs. Ilerschel Mur dock returned last Tuesday from two weeks In Minnesota. They went first to Tamarack where they visited with Ben Murdock and attended tho funeral of Herschel's mother, Mabel Mur. dock who had passed away Feb, 27. They then wont on to Brain erd to visit with Mrs. Mur- docks folks, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Casey, Sr., and at McGregor with Mr. and Mrs. Neville Mur dock. They had flown from Spokane. Mr, and Mrs. Earl Norris, Mr, and Mrs. Marvin Saddler, Mr, and Mrs. Verlln Conner, Mr. and Mrs. Ilerschel Murdock, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cochrane of Con don went to John Day Saturday to danco with the Mt. View Svvlngeroo Square Dance Club. The Klnzua Mountaineers brought back the Mt. View ban ner with them. Mr. and Mrs. Omar Stubble- field went to La Grande Friday to spend the weekend on busi ness and visiting with relatives. Comings and Goings In The Dalles Saturday on business and to attend the bas ketball tournament were Mr. and Mrs. Ellis McRoberts and Mr. and Mrs. Arlet Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Yeigh and Ray went to Bonners Ferry, Idaho last Wednesday night to attend the Thursday funeral of a relative. They returned Sat urday night. Mrs. John Weaser and Lisa iness visitors to Hend Thursday. Mrs. Dannlcl Bell and John and Mrs. Mel Sohluckebler and Brenda McMInn were business visitors to Pendleton last Tues day, Mrs. Dun Cory and Dawn were in Madras Friday where Dawn had medical care. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Conlce were business visitors to The Dalles last Friday. Mrs. Bcmerd Oyer and Mrs. Mel Schluckebier and Cheri and Brenda McMInn were In The Dalles Friday on business. 1 ' Birthday Party Mrs. John Jackson was tho hostess Sunday afternoon at the grade school to a birthday par ty for her daughter Angle who was nine years old. The young sters played several games with Robby Conlee, Andrea JacKson, and Christy winning prizes. Birthday cupcakes and Juice were enjoyed by all after watch ing Angle open her guts, inose present were Angie, Andrea, and Audrea Jackson, Paulette and Lisa Headley, Darren, Chris tl, Brenda, and Pattl Kendall, Rob Hulett, Chcri and Brenda McMInn.
