Try and visualize a huge black tank, 32 feet long, 8' In diameter welching 5 ton and capable of holding 12,000 gal lons of fuel oil! Then you have the super-sized tank that was installed this week by Paul Warren, of the Heppner Elemen tary School. The pit, the future home of this giant, was dug Just south of the present leak ing tank. Monday, Paul Warren eased It Into position with a Cat. The chain broke three times In the process. Finally a gentle push from the other end put it into place. Ray Ayers made the connec tions from the other tank and the oil was pumped into the new tank from the old one. It was leaking 150 gallons a week. The new tank was purchased! from the Cutler Pipe Co. In Port land for $1580 delivered in Heppner. Installation and hook up cost about $200. Twenty-five have signed up for this contest. With the favorite food, the contestant prepares a display of: a menu containing the fav orite food; a table setting for one complete with cloth and centerpiece; the favorite food a dessert, salad, bread, main dish, beverage and vegetable prepared by the contestant at home. They bring two containers of the favorite food, one for dis play and one for tasting. He joins two sis ters, Tara and Trlcla at home. Michael Phillip weighed in at 8 lb., 1 oz. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Phil Mahoney of Heppner and Mrs. Wager of Forest Grove. Spray; Dlanna Rictor, Fossil; and Dale Holland, Jr., Heppner. Rills Hare Baby Girl A baby girl, named Jennifer Sue, was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Rill on Saturday, Aug. I 15. She weighed 8 lb., 11 oz., and will join a brother Dean and sister Noela Jean at home. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Everett Harshman and Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Rill, all of Hepp ner. Pearl Lee Sawyer of Pendleton Is spending a few days with her grandmother Mrs. Florence McMillan. Back to Teaching Donald Majeske, who has spent the summer in Lexington at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Majeske returned the latter part of this week to St. Helens where he is on the teaching staff. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Irvin and Vicky of Hood River spent the weekend in Lexington. Billy Ir vin returned to his home with them after summer employment at the C. C. Jones ranch. Mrs. Kenneth Marshall and Debbie Majeske motored to Ar and all the other necessities moved from the fairgrounds to the park, to do the cooking and cleanup, Breakfast will be served from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Sunday, Auk. 30. This Is the main mon ey-making project of the club and the club operates all year on the proceeds of the breakfast and membership dues. Horse Show Art Vance is superintendent of the horse show and Alice Vance is secretary. The horse show will begin at 9:00 a.m. Fri day, Aug. 28. The show is open to any horse in Morrow County and everyone with a horse is encouraged and invited to par ticipate. Entry blanks are avail able now from the secretary and will be sent upon request. Be sure to read the premium book before sending in entries as some changes have been made, Business houses in Heppner have contributed prizes to be awarded in the various classes. Mrs. Lewis Wetzell and dau ghter Mrs. Jerry Chapman and infant son were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Leonard on Tuesday night. The ladies were enroute to Montana. They make their home in Portland but are former Lexington resi dents when Mr. Wetzell had the pastorate of the Lexington Christian Church. Herbert Davidson,.; son of. Mr, and Mrs. Bob Davidson has re turned to Ft. Lewis after a 30 day leave at the home of his parents prior to leaving for ser vice in Vietnam Mrs. Jerry Smith has returned home after major surgery at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton. Frank Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robinson has returned home after major surgery at St Tnthony Hospital in Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Messenger and children of Portland were weekend visitors at the Carl Marquardt home. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jones and Billy Irvin motored to Hood Riv er on Tuesday evening where they met Charlene Jones and Kimmberlee Larson and Dale Whitney for an anniversary dinner for Janis. Kimmberlee returned for a two weeks visit while Charlene Jones is employ ed in Salem. Saul of the New York Store in Pendleton. Judge for this year's show is Chuck Gavin of Enterprise, who comes highly, recommended by Harold Kerr; arena steward is Howard Bryant, and Gene Pierce will again serve as announcer. There were almost 250 entries in last year's show and it is hop ed this will be surpassed this year. There is no admission charged for the show, spectators are welcome. Entries close at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26. An office will be open at the dorm build ing at the fairgrounds from 2:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, to take entries. Be sure to study the premium book before filling out the entry blanks. Laurie McDougal of Walla Walla is here visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vir gil Gulick. Wednesday she en joyed a picnic and horseback ride with Patty Daly. FRENCHES ENTERTAIN COURT AND FRIENDS Mr. and Mrs. Raymond French and Princess Susie entertained at a patio potluck supper on the Saturday evening before Susie's dance. The Rodeo board and their families and friends up and down Butter Creek were guests. There were 125 at the supper. Mrs. French served two big roasters of "Mor" and cold turkey. Michelle Miller and Sherry Kemp made Susie a spe cial cake. Each member of the court received a gift from Prin cess Susie.
