Main Street was nothing but
cmt and mud, with board side
walks. There was three blacksmith
shop on Main Street Brinnans,
Aishbaugh and Scrivner. I think
the Scrivner Shop and Livery
was owned by a Mr. McRoberts
when we arrrved in Heppner. I
only remember two grocery
Kiores, inompsons and Phelps.
My uncle Chas Cox was in bus
iness with Mr. Phelps for a
while.
Mr. Swartz had the meat mar
ket The Heppner power plant
was on the edge of the hill
where I believe the Chevrolet
garage was later. Mr. Sigsbee
was the official photographer, so

My mother started working
all over town and as I wasn't
i.n school I got to know a lot
of people. Mr. Gilliam used to
send his black dog home with
a package of fresh meat for
dinner.

man, Cecil, lone, Lexington, Butter Creek,
Rhea Creek, Hardman, Heppner and surround
ing areas who signed the petition enabling me
to file for the position of County Judge of
Morrow County.
