Bill Rawlins gave the nnx-edure for preparing the fi.iuprs. Thev Hhould be cut with a sharp knife the day before the show. It ahould do cut ai a ulant to give maximum water Intake. They should be cut ear ly in the morning or late eve ning. The flowers should be placed in deep water over night, if possible and at least for sev eral hours. The foliage that will be below the water line In the arrangement or container for the horticultural specimen may be removed. Mrs. Rawlins ex plained that the water would be supplied to the foliage before the blossom. Care should be exercised to cut the blooms in the right stage, not too far open and not too close to bud stage. Some buds like glads will continue to open while other buds will wilt and drop. Mrs. Rawlias showed a meth od of transporting flowers. Take a large flatfish box of heavy cardboard with a telescoped lid and cut a hole In the lid the size of the containers. When the container is set in this hole, it is held upright and apart from other containers. Business Meeting Officers plus two members will meet to make up the pro grams for the year. Mrs. E. E. Gonty has volunteered to bo one of the plus two. Anyone else with ideas for programs who would like to serve on this com mittee is asked to call Mr. Raw lins. The group was asked to the Bill Rawlins home for the Sept ember meeting for a 6:43 pot luck supper. The group is asked to meet at the Neighborhood Center about 6:15 to go out as a group. ' Plans are progressing- for the Booth at the Fair. Mrs. Bob Clough is chairman. Plans are to work on it ' in the evening of Aug. 24 and during the day Aug. 25. Anyone wishing to do nate his or her services is ask ed to call Mrs. Clough. The Willows Grange win noia their annual picnic in the lone Park Sunday, Aug. 16 at 5:00 p.m. All grangers and friends are Invited to attend the pot luck picnic. The grange will fur nish ice cream, coffee and punch and dinnerware service. Mr. and Mrs. Fredrkk Martin spent last week at the home of hi-r narents. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Norton In Dallas. Stefania to Euaene Mr. and Mrs. Art Stefani, Jr., spent the weekend In Eugene with their son Jerry Stefani and family. Teresa, Teona and Den nis returned home with them after visiting a couple weeks with their brother. James' Meet Maattas Mr. and Mrs. Darrell James and sons spent Saturday In Port land whore they met Mr. and Mrs. John Maatta and daughter of Lebanon. Mrs. Maatta taught kindergarten in Ileppner a couple years ago, and Mr. Maatta work ed for Dick Wilkinson. The two families had a picnic dinner and visited the Zoo. In the evening they attended the Lake Oswego Water Festival Ski Show, in which Mark, Frank, and Joe Halvorsen, and Jackie Howton participated. Others attending from lone were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howton and Mrs. Mark Halvorsen. At Potato Plant Linda Nichols, Bonnie Ball, Pattie Crawford and Sharlene Hamlett started working at the Morrow Produce Co. in Board man Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree drove to Yakima Sunday to spend the day with Mr. and Mrs. Chuck St. Mary. On Tuesday evening Mrs. Marjorie Baker from Hermiston was an over night guest. Mr and Mrs. Mark Halvorsen nf T n r.ramln were euests of Mr. and Mrs. Hershal Townsend, weekend. LONEROCK NEWS LONEROCK Lonerockera are very pleased that their little town la the only one in Oregon that was chosen by the Jantzen Co. for their 1971 aporta wear spring and summer season cata loir. These catalogs are availa ble to buyers In stores from coast to coast. The background scenes were all of Lonerock and Included pictures of the models taken at the Big Rock, the church, school house, board walks, corrals and many build ings. This particular assignment was because of its uniqueness when things like we have here are rapidly disappearing. The models were a bit timid about the trip for they had heard we had rattle snakes and all kinds of bugs In this area but they saw neither while here.
