They were all here for the wed ding of their sister Bonnie Ak ers to Rodney Llnnell. PTA Band Entertains The lone PTA Kitchen Band entertained June 17 at the State Garden Club Convention held In the Bend Sr. High School. Those participating from this area were Mm. Lou Crum, Mrs. Jean Nelson, Mrs. Pat Pettyjohn, Mm. Lola Ann Pettyjohn, and Mm. Ruth McCabe. They were Joined by Mrs. June Chrlstopherson of Donald, and Mrs. Nadine John son of Salem. Montana Trip Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hams, Jeff and Craig, have returned from a trip that took them to MLssoula, Mont., where they visited the Bruce Mover family, then on to Dillon, Mont., where Wayne had attended college, thru the Lewis and Clark Caves, to Virginia City, and on Into Yellowstone Park, while in the park they visited with the Gil Lujan family, who works there during the summer vacation. They returned through the Te ton mountains and stopped in Ontario to visit Mr. and Mrs. Dick DeBishop, and then home. The girls stayed home with grandparents, Deena stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn, Sr., and Leslie with Mr. and Mm. Stub Hams in Hermlston. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Crawford and family of La Grande spent Father's Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Waite Crawford. Mr. and Mrs. Charles LaCosta from Napa, Calif., spent from Friday to Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Shaffer In Cecil. The LaCosta's are Jack Shaffers father and mother-in-law. Brothers Meet Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Meyers and family met the Jim Meyers family from Yakima, Wn., at Roaster Rock Park below Hood River last Sunday for a picnic and a visit. Gordon and Jim are brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn, Jr., and family have returned from a trip to Southern Calif ornia. The highlight of the trip was a visit to Disneyland. Mr. and Mrs. Garland Swan son spent the weekend In Sa lem visiting friends and rela tives. New Principal Arrives Mr. and Mm. Harold Beggs and family have moved to Pull man. Wn., and Mr. and Mm. Dennis Brandon and family have moved Into the teacherage. Mr. Brandon Is the new prlncl pal for the coming school year. Mr. Darrel James attended a workshop at Oregon State Uni versity at Corvallls last week. This week he Is attending a workshop at Lewis and Clark College. Mm. James, Jeff and Joel spent last week with her parents, Mr. and Mm. Al Hend erlckson at Granger, Wn. Her parents drove them home on Monday. Mr. and Mm. Leo Crabtree and grandsons, Ashley and Jimmy, took Mm. Crabtree's mother, Mm. Blanche Shcelar, to her home In Salem over the week, end. Mr. and Mm. E. E. Myers of Portland were up for the week end. This Is Just how It was last Saturday eve ning at Willow Creek Country Club. The Alan Martins, Lowell Cribbles and Ed Hiemstras were hosts for the evening and they did an excellent Job. When the golf game was over, the men picked names of the gals out of a hat and their two scores were added together. Grlb and Mm. Grib came in low Wouldn't you know he would pick his wife's name. Phil Ma honey pulled out Marie McQuar rle's name and they had a com bined score for high. It has been said (don't really know who said it) if there is a prize for low and high score and you don't receive the low better to get the high than no prize at all. Ray Massey won the golf ball for the low score for the foursome without women. Most of the ones there stayed until after dark, visiting and enjoying the cool air. Our thanks are ottered to Ed Hlemstra for putting up the slat draw shades on the west end of the porch to protect the ones sitting there from either the sun or wind. The gala purchased the shades and our president Instal led them. They are a pleasant addition to the porch, and do not cut out any of the view of our plush golf course. An election was held for vice president for the remainder of the year, to take Jack Simkins' place. Clinton McQuarrle was unanimously elected. Tuesday, the day promising to be mighty warm, organization of play for the gals was nil. Some beat the heat by being down there around 7:30. From Heppner, VI Lanham received the prize for long drive. The Kindergarten mothers served lunch for the group out at the Fairgrounds. The gals reported they had a good time and enjoyed their game of golf on the Condon course.
