Reception Given For Sue Melby Sue Melby as Grand Repre sentative to New Hampshire wan recently honored with a re ception by the Rainbow Girls at the Masonic Hall. The theme "When Your Dreams Come True' and the colors blue and white were carried out In decorations and addenda for Sue, Sandy Mathews as Grand Choir mem ber and Mrs. Ruby Becket as Grand Deputy of the Internat ional Order of Rainbow for Girls The girls were presented with corsages and Mrs. Becket with a compact. Teresa Wright, Cindy Harsln will receive the Grand Cross of Colors at the Grand Assembly, Other special guests present were Paul Jones, Past Grand High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons, Mrs. Paul Jones, past Mother Advisor; Don Gilliam, worshipful master of Heppner Lodge No. 19, Dick Snyder, Her miston, past master counsellor of the DeMolay chapter at Her miston. The honor guest had been invited out to fill-in at cards and walked in most unsuspectingly into the shower. Her gifts were present ed In a big cradle that was a gift to her from Mrs. Elden Pad berg. The tea table was centered with an umbrella. Swinging from the ribs of the umbrella were baby necessities in pinks and blues. The hostesses served strawberry parfait pie. There were 20 guests present Luncheon to be Served At WSCS Lawn Sale The women of the Methodist Church are hoping for a sunny Saturday for their first annual Lawn Sale. They have added sandwiches to their menu with pie and coffee so friends are in vited to have lunch and snacks with them. They have suggest ed that people come as they are from their work whether it is in the garden or office. They have also to sell fancy work, antiques, cooked food, pictures and novelties of all kinds. Darlene Warren gave a read ing and read a passage from the bible with the thought God is your everlasting light. The Impressive crowning cer emony was conducted by the De Molay Boys from Hermiston with Butch Taylor as Senior Counsellor. Addenda Addendum was given for Kar la who received her Past Worthy Advisor's pin. The 12 girls each gave her a single red rose and then Christie tied them with a big red bow. Christie was given red and r IT V Bridal Shower Given For Ginger Majeske Ginger Majeske was guest of honor at a miscellaneous Bri dal Shower Monday evening at Hope Lutheran Church. She will be married Sunday to Burke O' Brien. The hostesses following her color schemo of yellow and green with bouquets of yellow spring flowers and greenery about tho room. She was assist ed by Debbie Majeske in open ing her gifts. Her cousin Mona Lisa Marshall served the coffee and Sandy Bennett the punch. Got a note from Anita I'llmun about tho new Congressional Club Cook Book. The book con tains three favorite recipes of Mrs. Nixon's Hot chicken salad, Ham Mousse and Barbecued Chicken. Mrs, Agnew's recipe for Maryland Crab Imperial and Lady Bird's recipe for Lima Bean and Mushroom Casserole. For teasers they have enclos ed several recipes, one was Mrs. Drake Families Here For Mother's Day Mrs. Ray Drake had a house full of company for Mother's Day. Twenty-four members of her family were her guests for dinner. Coming from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drake of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Drake, Jr., and Marah from Cor vallis, Mrs. Charles Ingram, Bill and RaAnne from Condon, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Drake, Dennis, Charlotte and Joyce from Ver- Mrs. from nlla, Wn, and Mr. and Gary Weber and Mike Richland. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Warren, Matt and Joan and Mrs. Grace Drake, Alfred. Gwen and Rick, all of Heppner, Joined the group to have a day of visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scrivner and Diane from Portland were weekend visitors at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lee Scrivner, in Heppner. Agnew'a recipe for: Avgalemono Soup or Chicken Rice Soup. 1 chicken, stewing, enough water to cover, salt, pepper, whole onion (optional) celery leaves (optional) 3 eggs. Juice of 1 or 2 lemons, 1 cup rice. Boll chicken with onion and celery leaves until tender. Re move chicken and let It cool. Strain the broth, return It to the heat and when it begins to bolt, add the rice, salt and pepper. When the rice is cooked, lower the heat to simmer. Beat the eggs until frothy, then add the lemon Juice a little at a time, beating well Remove little broth and add to the cga 1cm. on mixture, beating continuous ly. Remove the broth from the heat, and add the egg lemon mixture to the rest of the broth. Be sure to vigorously stir the egg lemon mixture while you are working with it. so that the eggs will not curdle. Let stand a few minutes before serving. Serves 6 to 8. E. 122nd St, Portland, was the destina tion of four lone Garden club members, Mrs. Vida Heliker, Mrs. Willard French, Mrs. Clell Rea, and Mrs. Frederick Martin with their guest, Mrs. Hilda Timm of Pendleton, early Tues day morning. Other guests Join ing the tour party were Mrs. Catherine Jones Bollam, Port land, Mrs. Joie Woolery Conway, Tigard, Mrs. Dorothy Spick, Ti- gard Garden Club, Mrs. L. M. Johnson (Nadine) Salem and Mrs. "Victor Rietmanrf. It was remarkable how many beautiful trees, shrubs and plants from so many parts of the world would grow so well in Oregon. Mr. Leach who per sonally conducted the tour over several acres, had so many in teresting background stories to tell about the vegetation and historical items in his home grounds planned and planted by him and his wife in the last 34 years. At his 88 years one would think him to be a much younger gentleman. Special comment should be made of the cabin he built a cross Johnson Creek, reached only by a two plank suspension bridge. The cabin has a slate roof, a Terrazzo floor with special floral design and equip ped with many antiques and unique furnishings. The Camp anario (picnic spot) was furnish ed with hewn log chairs and the other necessary picnic fa cilities. Mr. Leach, a former citizen of Morrow County, of the Lexing ton area, is author of a most interesting auto-biography en titled "Ox Bows and Bare Feet It has been said that this book is the most authentic history of Morrow County up to the pres ent time. There are only a few copies available. It would be most worthwhile for anyone to make arrange ments with Mr. Leach to tour his gardens and visit with him. As each name was read, all eyes focused on that person so even though I didn't know many of them it was easy to "read" which one they were talking about. Such a real nice group of kids. They later danc ed up a storm at the Elks party. They cooled off with gallons and gallons of pink punch with lots of ice. We may wait for a long time for the shade to come but we have planted four trees up at our new house. A walnut to shade the front of the hose, a clump Birch, a Mountain Ash and an apple tree with four kinds of apples. There's a Juni per on the East line and I sug gested to Charlie we call our place Juniper East but he thinks that sounds too sophisti cated for us. The purpose of the conference was to provide information con cerning the latest in boating safety. The afternoon session consisted of several workshops, Deputy Fetsch attended the one on Boating Law Enforcement Boat manufacturers spoke and explained new safety features on boats.
