New Flag Pole Raised In Front of Local Hospital and long may it wave on high! and high is the flag flying from the new flag pole at the hospital. The pole is the result of the work of many hands and much scrounging of materials. When Bill Lowe left the hospital after working there for a long time, he wanted to give something to the hospital. Will O'Harra suggested a flag pole. Columbia Basin dug the hole and Bud Marshall and Art Vance operated the ladder truck to put the top section in place. The ball at the top of the. pole is made from a discarded water melon type oxygen tank. A section was cut out of the center to make it ball shaped and it was welded by Nate Mc Bride. A new and larger flag has been ordered and will be pre sented to the hospital by Mrs. R. L. Brewster in memory of her husband. Raymond L. Brewster and her son, Wm. Henry Brew ster. A flag was flown from the new flag pole on Jan. 21, 1970. Bowlinq Adds $120 To March of Dimes The March of Dimes Scotch Doubles bowling tournament held Saturday night, Jan. 31, at Fiesta Bowl, was a great suc cess. A total of $120 was raised to help conquer birth defects. Stan and Shirley Cox won first place with a score of 1133. Bruce and Ann Griffith were a close second with 1129. Members of the council met with the North Morrow County 4-H council to discuss the ad ministration of the 4-H build ing located here. Present for the 4-H were Pete Richards of Irri gon, Gail McCarty of Heppner and Kurt Gantenbein of Board man. Greenfield Initiates Two A snecial meeting of Green field Granee was held Monday niaht to initiate two new mem bers in the first and second de grees, and to install those om who had not been installed in December.
