Patriotic Theme Featured At Rainbow Installation With the theme, "Faith Can Move Mountains", a color scheme of red, white and blue and the United States flag as the symbol, Karla Weatherford was installed as worthy advis or of Ruth Assembly Internat lonal Order of Rainbow for Girls in Oregon Sunday afternoon at the Masonic Hall. Trie installing officers were Teresa Wright, worthy advisor Anne Rucker, OSU chaplain Mrs. Jay Wheelhouse of Hermis ton, musician; Gloria Howard of Portland marshal and Eliza beth Stephens, recorder. Line officers for the ensuing term assisting Karla will be Christy Taylor, worthy associate advisor; Karen Cox, Chanty; Sandy Mathews, Hope and Mary Kay Hughes, Faith. Other officers: Patty O'Harra, recorder; Teresa Wright, treas urer and Jeanine Hunt, chap lain. Rainbow colors include Diane McLachlan, Love; Dewina Turner, Religion; Lisa Cutsforth, Nature; Peggy Hayton, Immor tality; Carol Hughes, Patriotism; Cyde Allstott, Fidelity; Linda Baker, Service. Other officers: Debbie Mc Leod, outer observer; Kay Van Winkle, confidential observer; Diane Mills, drill leader; Marie Van barter, musician; and Bob bette Jones, choir director. Members of the choir are Jeri Keithley, Tami Meador, Barby McCarl, Sally Winters, Trisha Prock and Susan Melby. Faye Wilson was introduced and installed as new Mother Ad visor. Following the flag salute and singing of the National Anthem, Mrs. Clarence Baker, Mrs. Bar bara Devine, Rachel Harnett and Hubert Wilson were intro duced as members of the Rain bow board. DeMoloy Boys Here Ten members of the Blue Mountain chapter Order of De Molay from Hermiston conduct ed the crowning ceremony as the Rainbow crown was taken from outgoing Worthy Advisor Teresa and placed on the head of new Worthy Advisor Karla. Teresa was then crowned with a tiara which will be hers to keep. During the crowning ceremo ny, Mrs. w. b. Miner sang "Faith Can Move Mountains" accompanied by Mrs. Wheel- house. The DeMolay Boys were pre sented with an oversized stuffed Adelle LaTraee, Deputy Pres Ident of District No. 20 of Re bekah Lodges and a staff of Past Noble Grands from Sans Soucl R.L. No. 33 Journeyed to Lexington Jan. 8 to the hall of Holly R.L. No. 139 for the purpose of installing officers In that lodge for the coming year. The meeting was opened by Donna Papineau, Noble Grand of Holly Lodge, who greeted the attendance of members gather ed for the scheduled activities. Later she was conducted to the Past Noble Grands station and received the obligation thereof for the coming term. The Deputy President Adlele LaTraee and her staff of in stalling officers, Deputy Marsh al, Altha Kirk, Deputy Warden, Opal Cook, Deputy Secretary, Esther Bergstrom, Mary Bailey, Deputy chaplain; Deputy Treas urer, Letha Archer and Deputy Guardian Ada Es kelson were formally introduced and Honors of the Degree extended. The slate of officers installed for Holly Lodge were Noble Grand, Dorothy Burcham; Vice Grand, Frieda Majeske; Secre tary, Delpha Jones; Treasurer, Hilda Yocom; Warden, Ida Lee Engleman; Conductor, Vivian McConnell; Chaplain, Florence McMillan; Right and Left Sup porters of Noble Grand respect ively, Dimple Munkers and Ruth Robinson; Right and Left Supporters of Vice Grand, Catie Padberg and Eula Bloodsworth; Inside Guardian. Luther League Has Snow Party Sleigh riding was enjoyed by the Luther League on Sunday, Jan. 4, at Cutsforths cabin. The League wishes to thank every one who helped to make the trip a success for the 36 people wno attended. The next meeting will be at Hope Lutheran Church at 4:30, Feb. 8. Martha Wiley, IFYE stu dent from Ireland will be a guest for that meeting. Lowell Cribble attended a fertilizer meeting last week in Pasco. Speakers talked on Irri gation and soil testing. This week he attended a meeting in Walla Walla of all Shell Jobbers ana dealers. WSCS Vote Cookies Project for February The women of the WSCS of the Methodist Church will send cookies to their servicemen and college kids during the month of February. The topic for their February meeting will be Com munity concerns to be given by Mrs. Bill Weatherford and the March meeting will be an ecumenical meeting with Presbyterian Sunday School worker as the guest speaker. It was announced that a Mis sionary rrom japan may come to speak at a special meeting at the church In February. The program on China at their meeting Jan. 7 was Intro duced by the Rev. Edwin Cut ting by asking those present for their recollections of China Most of these were of the old China. By reading excerpts from several different articles, Mrs. John Wood, Mrs. Carl Mc-Daniel,- Mrs. Cutting and Mrs. Douglas Drake, showed a change In tone by Communist China over the last year. A dis cussion followed whether Red China should be admitted to the United Nations. There are 13 million Chinese on Formosa and 400 to 700 million on the main land. It was felt that the work of the missionaries would contin ue to wield an Influence in the schools, hospitals and elevation of the status of women In spite of the banishment of ev erything church since 1949. Mrs. Amanda Duvall and Mrs. Pearl Wright were hostess es for the social hour which followed. Mr. and Mrs. Wright went to Bend Dec. 28 to help care for Steven, and returned to their home Jan. 9. These ranged from a can of paint, recalling the time when they painted them selves as much as they did the object they were painting, the slumber party and the time the cocoa was spilled! The addenda for Karla fea tured letters from the theme of her installation, "Faith Can Move Mountains" as as mem bers placed the letters on a large poster picture of mount ains they read a ditty on friend ship, attitude, thoughtfulness and other characteristics attrib uted to the new worthy advisor. Also Introduced Hubert Wilson, worshipful master of the Heppner Masonic Lodge was introduced as were Karla s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Weatherford and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rucker and Mrs. Joyce Emer son, all of Arlington and her cousins, Grant and Frank Weatherford of Fossil. Mr. and Mrs. Don Adams of Irrigon were also here from out of town.
