Molly to Visit Units in January During January and February, Molly Saul. Area Extension Agent will visit all units In Morrow County and give the lesson "Know the Truth about Foods'. The lesson concerns lood fads, frauds and food add Hives. With nutrition very much in the spotlight nation wide, this lesson should prove Inter estlng to a!l homemakers. Everyone is welcome to at tend any Extension meeting attendance is in no way limit ed to membership. The Nashs, the Parsons and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Palmer and children spent Christmas Eve at the Dean Connor home. The Con nors, the Parsons and Mrs. Lyle Jensen and children all had Christmas dinner at the Nash home. Mr. and Mrs. Parsons re- Simplicity Wardrobe To: Be Shown. Here. Naomi Davis, Morrow-Umatil la 4-H home ec agent will be here Jan. 14-15 bringing the Simplicity Company Wardrobe. It will be shown in lone Jan. 14, and Heppner Jan. 15. The showing will be arranged in co operation with home ec teach ers in both schools. Due to school vacation, final plans are not yet completed. " JEWELERS Holiday Dinner turned to Beaverton on Friday On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Nash and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Connor went to Hood River to attend the wedding of Mrs. Nash's niece, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Peter Nogowskl and Mrs. Nash helped with the serv Ing at the wedding reception The Nashs also visited Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Springer in Hood River and the Connors went on to Aloha to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Williams. Soroptimists Fix Christmas Boxes The Heppner Soroptimlst Club neld a Christmas party last Thursday at the-Wagon- Wheel with vocal selections from group of grade school children as the program attraction. They were directed by Ola Mae Gro shen. Members exchanged gifts and honored four members with De- ix-moer Dinnaays. They were Eleanor Gonty, Marlene Gray, joyce Kiicn and Joyce Johnson. Memoers brought gifts, candy and cookies for boxes to be giv en to throe families for Christ mas. Several members were to fix the nursing home patients nair on Christmas Eve. The next regular meeting will bo on Jan. 8 at the City Hall with a sack lunch. Tiffani Sharene Baptized At Hermiston Mr. and Mrs. Doug Anderson and Tiffani Sharene of Beaver ton were up to spend Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Luciani. Also home for the holidays was another dau ghter, Sheila from Oregon State and her fiance Robert Cozad whose home is at Huntington Beach. He has since gone to his home for the last of the vaca tion with his parents. On Sunday they attended ser vices when Tiffani Sharene was baptized at the Trinity Luther an Church in Hermiston. Also here for the occasion wpre Doug's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Anderson of Dallas. Following the services they were all dinner guests at the Luciani home on Butter Creek. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Anderson and family of Heppner and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Linton of Gladstone. Many Persons Attend Annie r Healy Services Assisting Fr. Beard with the funeral mass of Annie Healy were Fr. Francis McCormack of Hood River and Fr. Leopold O' Reardan of Bend. Relatives here from out of town for the Annie Healy fun eral were a grandson, John Wal ters of Cincinnati, Ohio, who is attending college at Butte, Mont. Mrs. Ilene Richard of Areata, Calif. Mrs. Rosanna Applegate, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Clark and and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Farley and ramuy, all of Hood River. Mr. and Mrs. Matt Kenny and family of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Monohan and family of Condon, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Healy of Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Erwin and family, Emmett Kenny, Mrs. Ray GronquLst and Mrs. Stan Conlon, all of Pendleton. Eddie Kenny of Spokane, Mr. and Mrs. James Kenny and fam ily of Oswego. Also many friends from Pendleton, Pilot Rock, Ukiah and Hermiston. Following the services a din ner was prepared and served in the Parish Hall by friends and members of the Altar Societies of Heppner, Lexington and lone. Mrs. Michael Gray Honored at Dinner Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Gray en tertained at dinner Monday eve ning honoring their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Michael Gray, on her birthday. A First For The Forest Service Tills year for the first time the Umatilla National orest HoDDner Ranger district has a glowing Christmas card on their front yard. A semi-circie oi six evergreens form the background for a deer and lawn, ine ani mals were drawn by Judy Mc Laughlin, and painted by Lynda Dunlap. Dancing in the wind high ov- erhead are the words Merry Christmas and the words Uma tilla National Forest are sitting on the ground. A lighted tree is in the back. Tree Permits About 30 more permits than last year for individuals to cut Christmas trees were issued from the Heppner ranger sta tion this year according to Frank Rasmussen. This year total of 110 permits were Issued. "-''"Stir 'V' From 1905 until 1966 free per mits were issued. Then the de mand became so great, a dol lar charee was made. It is on ly for the past four years that charge permits have been made. Boardman Pants Workshop to Start Preliminary meeting for "Sew ing Pants for Women" workshop will be held in Boardman Jan. 8, at 1:00 p.m. Leaders for the workshops will be Mrs. Mel Allyn and Mrs. Cleve Hinton. All women from the Boardman Irrigon area are welcome to at tend this extension sponsored workshop. Ladies may enroll by calling Mrs. Mel Allyn, Chair man, Boardman Extension Unit. 11 -l Ty-: Hoppers Have 3-Way Christmas Mr. and Mrs. John Hopper ac companied Lyle Potter to Con don to spend Christmas Eve with his family. Also present were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Potter of Olcx and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brltt and Donna of Spray. Christmas day guests of the Ray Brltts were Mr. and Mrs. Burke Gentry of Hardman, the John Hoppers and the Lyle Pot ters. On Friday Mr. and Mrs. Britt and Donna aocompanled by Raelene Gentry brought the Hop pers home to Heppner where they had another Christmas dinner. Additional guests were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hopper, Loren and Cody from Hermiston. Legion Meeting Dates Changed Heppner American Legion and Auxiliary announce a change of meeting dates effect ive Immediately. Both groups will now hold their regular monthly meetings on the third Monday of the month. All Leg Ion and Auxiliary members are invited to attend the meetings in the Legion hall. Supper Given For G-T Employees Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heard entertained the crew of the Gazette-Times at a pre-Chrlstmas supper on Charlie's birthday, Dec. 21. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Raymond, Dale Cooper, Reggie Pascal and Char lie's cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Gar ry Tullls. Alice Vance who works at the G-T and Mr. Vance were unable to attend. A. H. Bergstrom and daughter, Lyn Bergstrom of Portland visit ed over the weekend with his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Becket. May good times abound. SXlZBTTE-TIMES Thurs January 1. 1970 Mrs. Gertson Spends Christmas Away Mrs. Clara Certson drove to Central Point, near Medford, to spend Christmas with her dau ghter and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Anhorn, Jim and Cathy. Mrs. Anhorn is the former Irene Beamer. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Anhorn and fam ily of Medford and Mike An horn, home from Fort Riley, Kan. Mr. and Mrs. Claire Go heen from Portland were also guests for dinner. Mrs. Goheen is Mrs. Anhorn's sister. Enroute home Mrs. Gertson attended the funeral In Portland of Myrtle Anderson, past state president of the Degree of Hon or Protective Ass'n. Foods Leader Training Dated Naomi Davis, Morrow-Umatilla 411 home ec agent will give training for all 4-H foods lead ers, Jan. 15 at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Room at the Lexing ton Schoolhouse. The new foods project books will be discussed and other helps presented for new and experienced leaders. All 4-H Foods Leaders are urg ed to mark this date and plan to attend. Golden Agers Open The New Year Golden Age Club will hold their first meeting of 1970 with a social get-together on Tues day, Jan. 6 at thie Episcopal Parish Hall. The evening will begin with a potluck dinner to be followed by games, cards and visiting. All members are invited to attend, and bring guests. Jeanne Collins was here with her parents for Christmas. X
