Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dalzell of
lone were at Eagle Creek last
weekend for1 the wedding of
their daughter, Wilma Gaarsland
to El win James Drobny of Es
tacada at the Eagle Creek Chapel
of the Hills. The double ring
ceremony was read by the Rev.
Thyea Strand.
The bride wore a pink bro
cade street length dress with a
pink pill box and veil. Her bou
quet was of pink rises and white
carnations. Her sister, Mrs. lyde
crawrora or Albany was her at
tendant She wore a yellow
bonded knit and had a bouquet
of yellow roses and white car
nations.
Daryl Dunrud of Estacada was
best man.
Wedding cake and coffee were
served at the new home of the
couple following the ceremony.
Other members of the family at
tending were Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Smith from Camp Sherman and
Betty Sims and James Hogue of
Bend.
Mr. Drobny works with big
equipment in highway construc
tion and the bride is employed
in the plywood mill at Estacada.

Heppner Home Extension
group met Tuesday for their
Christmas meeting at the home
of Mrs. Gene Ferguson. Christ
mas ideas were exchanged in
the morning and gifts were ex
changed in the afternoon with
a potluck luncheon at noon.
The members brought gifts
for the EOSH which will be ta
ken over to Pendleton next
week. Plans for their New Eng
land study lor Jan. 16 were
made. The meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Vern Keith
ley. Mrs. Ferguson had crochet
ed "book worms" for book
markers for those attending.

Frank Lovgren who leaves for
Boise December 15 for the Navy
Seals and underwater demolit
ion training was honored with
an early Christmas dinner and
party Saturday evening by his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lov
gren at their home.
There were 65 guests of fam
ily and friends to enjoy the
evening. Those coming from out
of town were Mr. and Mrs. Cal
Sumner, Prineville and Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Sumner, Angela and
Shane of The Dalles.

While driving to lone on one
of those clear days before the
fog we were thrilled with see
Ing this snow peak In the dls
tance. We thought It was Mt.
Hood but those who know tell
us It was ML Adams. Anyway
it was a oeautuui sight.
The last time we went to Pen.
dleton we went the way the
college kids do . . . by Sand
Hollow road. However, we took
a right along the way and cot
over there on a gravelled road
It was OK because we saw some
new and Interesting country.
But Imagine our surprise when
rounding curve to see a band
of 12 or IS peacocks some of
them with their tails spread
out . . . beautiful and unusual
Well we're warmer! Last week
my oldest brother and his wife,
Elmer and Bob Lake, surprised
us on Monday with a visit.
We're still moving around box
es piled high to the ceiling but
quick like a flash we shuffled
boxes so we could get the twin
beds down In the middle bed
room. Elmer Is one of those persons
who likes to know how things
work. Well this time he went
in reverse and wondered why
our furnace didn't work . . .
and puffed his cigar round!

turn didn't work. What he did
to the furnace we don't know
but all of a sudden warm air
came bursting from the regis
ters. The boys in she shop said
they had never felt warmth like
that before. Elmer said the cold
air wasn't forcing the warm air
out. The cold air return In the
shop is above my head . . . and
he says it should be on floor
level . . . which make sense.
There's things to be done but

Altar Society Plans Christmas Party
St. Patrick's Altar Society
made plans for the annual
Christmas party at their meet
ling Dec. 2 at St. Patrick's Par
ish Hall. The date for the par
ty Is Doc. 21 with a family pot
luck dinner at 12:30 p.m. fol
lowed by a visit from Santa.
Officers elected were Mrs.
Dick Roblson and Mrs. Jerry
Sweeney-co-chairmen; Mrs. The-
da Britt, secretary and Mrs. Har
ry ODonnell, treasurer.
Holy Names Breakfast will be
served Dec. 14. Committee in
charge is Mrs. Ed Gonty, Mrs.
John Mollahan, Mrs. Sweeney.
Members are asked to meet
Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. to prepare the
church for the Christmas sea
son. Hostesses for the evening were
Mrs, Mollahan and Mrs. Sweeney.
