Heppner has another new in
dustry which gives promise of
growing to large proportions. It
is that of making automobile
tops and repairing old or dam
aged ones. Bert P. Stone, better
known as "Stoney" has purch

E. G. Noble and will continue
at the old stand. He recently re
turned from Walla Walla, where
he received a number of weeks
thorough Instruction in the man
ufacture of auto tops, and hav
ing been in the harness making
business for years, handling
leather goods, his new line
comes to him easy. Mr. Noble

Donations Asked
For Flag Fund
Secretary of State Clay My
ers reports that requests from
Oregon servicemen overseas
have been so heavy that the
Oregon State Flag Fund may
be exhausted within six months.
Myers said his office has
mailed an average of 65 state
flags a month to Oregon serv
icemen, principally in Vietnam,
since early summer.
"I urge interested citizens,
veterans organizations, and ser
vice clubs to make donations to
the flag fund," Myers said.
"Judging from the letters we
receive, these flags apparently
mean a great deal to our boys
overseas, and I wouldn't like to.
see the fund discontinued."
Myers noted that a legislat
ive appropriation for the flag
fund, that was intended to cov
er the biennium, has been one
third expended since July 1. It
costs $5.59 to mail a nag over
seas.
supplement donated monies.
Myers said checks should be
made payable to Oregon State
Flag Fund, and mailed to Room
121, State Capitol, Salem, Ore
gon.
