Youth Chairman Grange Speaker By DELPKA JONES LEXINGTON LexlnRt o n Grange 726 will meet for their regular meeting on Saturday niKht, November 8, beginning with a potluck dinner. The grange will furnish the meat dish and members are asked to brine salads and desserts. The dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a Boost er night program. Mrs. Karen Larsen, District 1 Youth Chair man will be guest speaker. Mrs. Larson was named outstanding young lady granger of the state of Oregon In 1967. The drill team of Greenfield grange will perform and musical numbers will be presented. State Grange Master Allen Wheeler urges all members to attend and take a part In grange meetings as a larger attendance is needed if the granges are to continue to be successful. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson and children. Greg and Anita, were in Portland over the week end and attended the Oregon State-Stanford game. Miss Norita Marquardt visit ed her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt over the week end. Norita attends Multnomah School of the Bible In Portland. Carroll Messenger of Portland ji'as.4 Lexington-visitor-over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones at tended the Byers Deardorff ranch centennial celebration at Prairie City recently. The speak er for the affair was John Shaw, author of the book Steens Moun tains and master of ceremonies was Wayne Leathers. Other guests introduced were Herman Oliver, author of Gold and Cat tle Country, and William Far rell, Grant county agent. A din ner was served in the evening to approximately 250 relatives and friends. Mrs. Jones is a niece of Mr. and Mrs. Deardorff. Word has been received that Margaret Swift Thomas, a for mer Lexington resident, fell at her home in Walla Walla and has undergone major surgery on a fractured hip. Lexington Bridge club met at the home ol Mrs. Dean Hunt. Those present were Mrs. John Ledbetter, Mrs. Lester Cox, Mrs. Gene Cutsforth, Mrs. Bob David son, Mrs. Bob Jepsen, Mrs. El den Padberg, Mrs. Mervln Leon ard, and the hostess, Mrs. Hunt. The lone girls have won 7 out of 11 games played. The Red team was defeated twice by Heppner's A team with scores of 15 0. 15-12. and won one game 15-9. Ione's White team was triumphant with two wins, 15-5, 1513. and no loss es. The Blue team won two games. 15-10. 15-8 and suffered one loss to the FUlles 1512. The Yellow team came on strong to win two games, 15-8, 16-14 and dropped one to Heppner. 15-12. High Scorers: Red team. Kar en Edwards. 10 pts., Jane Krebs. 4 pts.
