During the business meeting It was decided to take the mem bers' husbands to dinner on Oct ober 25 with Betty Murdock in charge of making the arrange ments for the time and place. Portland Man Heads State Cancer Society Dr. Harvey W. Baker, Portland surgeon, is the newly elected president of the American Can cer Society, Oregon division, suc ceeding Dr. Alfred C. Hutchin son, also of Portland. He will serve the 1969-70 term. Other ofifcers named at the society's annual meeting were Larry Hilaire, first vice-president; John N. Matschek, second vice president; Warde H. Erwin, secretary; George A. D. Kerr, treasurer; Robert P. DeKoning, chairman, executive committee. Friends in Heppner have learned of the death of Kath erine Bowker in Alhambra, Calif. Mrs. Bowker and her hus band Albert (Bert) formerly lived on Butter Creek on what is now the Campbell ranch. Fun eral services were held October 22 in Alhambra. The Bowkers also resided in Echo for a time before moving to California.
