Sharp By FRANCES ROSE WILSON HHH over from lnt wik IRRIGON Mayor Chester Wil son gave a report on the Water System at the September coun cil meeting on September 9. The reason given for delay In completing the small amount of work left on the project was pro curement and delivery problems of some of the control compon ents. Construction of a line, north of Oregon Avenue on 7th Street, will be Included before the proj ect Is finished. Other business included rou- time payment of bills and dis cussion of a wide range of it ems which touched on street lights and weed control. It was noted that two late spraying of streets and roadways had been very effective in killing puncture vine. An earlier effort in forth coming years was suggested to eliminate their seeding. A letter was read from Union Pacific Railroad stating the city's application for a crossing over their tracks at 10th Street had been declined. This was to have given access into the new park area being developed by the Corps of Engineers who have already constructed their roadway connecting 10th Street which is to be the only access into the park. This information is to be forwarded to the Corps of Engineers, with suggestion that they present the problem to the railroad. Richard Stanley submitted his resignation verbally to the Coun cil, stating there is a conflict of working conditions which make it difficult for him to at tend the meetings. Appointment to fill the vacancy was deferr ed to a later date. An Ordinance to provide for manner of financing later con struction of water mains and laterals will be on the agenda for October.
