Oregon 276-4652 Jones Entries Topsjln Horse Show Event Although a new record wasn't set in number of entries, there was a lot of SDir ted competit ion and interest in this years Morrow County Open Horse Show, sponsored under the su pervlslon of the wranglers Kia ing club on Friday. Conforma tion and halter classes were Judged during the morning, and working and performance class es during the afternoon. There was a total of 236 hors es Judged in the various class es. A father-daughter combina tion walked off with top honors this year. Champion performance horse, in four events for points. Show ing the reserve champion, Mr. Bar Barred, was his daughter, Marcla Jones. Each received a new horse blanket donated by Turner, Van Marter and Bryant Insurance company. In the cow cutting event, ,0Vd Jones placed first on Pat Brady; Art Vance second on Lit tie H: and tied for third were Jim Norene on Socko Bob and Marcia Jones on Mr. Bar Barren. ches received a head stall do- and Vance, reins donated by Bank of Eastern Oregon. Three Junior calf ropers triea valiantly to catch the calf and remove the ribbon, but none was able to place. Third was Sandra Rod riquez on Eubanks' entry with 18.8. and tied for fourth were Becky Fulleton on Boy Doll and Patti Daly on Buzz with 18.9, Fred Mankin donated saddle bags for the first four place winners. Art Vance was superintendent of the show, with Alice Vance and Beverly Steagall, secretaries. Julius Binder, extension agent from Madras, was Judge; How ard Bryant was ring master, and Gene Pierce, announcer. This is the first point counting event for Champion Performance Horse. Jim Norene on Socko Bob was third and Dimple Munkers on Rocket was fourth. Trail Class 24 youngsters un der 14 years competed. Karen Phillips on Tena, first, with time of 39.2; Kyle Robinson on Penny, second with 40.6; Teena Phillips on Babe, third with 41.8 and Sherri Kemp on Spot, fourth with 44.5. Elma's donat ed a $10.00 gift certificate for first place and $5.00 gift cer tificate for second place. Hackamora Reining Judy Currin on Gerney won first, and received a Bit donated by Cor nett Green; Sherri Kemp on Glenco, second. There were on ly two entries in this event. Bit Reining Floyd Jones won first place and added points to ward the championship on Pat Brady. He received also a bit donated by Murrays. Marcia Jones on Mr. Bar Barred, sec ond, and received a halter do nated by Jim Norene. Third, Kite Healy on Jet's Babe Bar, and fourth. Judy Currin, on Lad die. Clover Leaf Barrel Race for Performance horse points was timed and judged. Scoring first place was Floyd Jones on Pat Brady; Judy Currin on Laddie, second; Becky Fulleton on Bov Doll, third, and Roice Fulleton on Dust Off, fourth. First place received shin guards and sec ond received hat, both donated by Columbia Basin Electric. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Doherty were Mrs. Ruth Meierjurgen and daughter, Vicki, of Nehalem, Gorjean Ar men, Portland, and Sue Moe, Eu gene. They stayed August 22-24 to attend the rodeo. Enjoying a week of camping at Wallowa Lake were Mr. and Mrs. Marion (Sonny) Biddle and daughters, Sonja and Shelly.
