AND MRS. JOHN MARVIN WEYGANDT (Brenda Kay Young) Church Rites Unite Couple The United Methodist church was the scene of an early sum mer wedding which united Miss Brenda Kay Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Young of Heppner, and John Marvin Wey gandt, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Weygandt of Canby. Vows were read by the Rev. Melvin W. Dixon, former Hepp ner minister, and now of Cot tage Grove, on Saturday after noon, June 21. Altar arrange ments and baskets of large unite daisies and pink gladioli provided the floral background. White satin pew bows marked the white carpeted bridal aisle- Escorted by her father, the bride wore an empire gown of white crepe with bodice and belled elbow-length sleeves of reimbroidered lace, which was also featured in the chapel train. Her elbow-length veil of illus ion net was held by a single tulle rose. A white orchid cen tered the bridal bouquet, sur rounded by stephanotis, pink roses and ivy. Her only jewel ry was an heirloom pin, a gift of the groom, which belonged to his grandmother. Maid of honor for her sister was Miss Debbie Young. Bridesmaids were Miss Mar cia Young, also sister of the bride, Miss Pam MeCabe, and Miss Janet White, niece of the groom. Gown of the maid of honor was a floor-length empire styl ed crepe of hot pink, with bridesmaids wearing matchng styled gowns of light pink crepe, all with full long sleeves of rayon georgette. Th e i r matching headpieces were of sheer net, . held by matching bows. They carried colonial bou quets of pink and white daisy chrysanthemums and small pink rosebuds. R. A. (Buzz) Weygandt, at tended his brother as best man. Ushers were Robert Haun of Oregon City, Lance White, brother-in-law of the groom, and Hugh Boyle, both of Canby. Lighting tapers before the ceremony were Bruce Young, brother of the bride, and Lisa Weygandt, niece of the groom. Organ selections were played by Mrs. W. S. Miller, who also accompanied Mrs. Jay Wheel house when she sang, 'Wither Thou Goest" and "The Wedding Prayer". For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Young wore an azure crepe dress with light blue lace over dress, navy blue accessories, and pink clmbidium corsage. Mrs. Weygandt, mother of the groom, chose a mint green linen dress with white lace coat and cor sage of yellow cimbidium orch ids. Guests were greeted at a re ception in the downstairs social rooms. A four-tiered wedding cake, created by the bride mother, featured pink and white decorations, with floral base of daisy mums. The brides and attendant's bouquets were plac ed around the cake as well, Mrs. Lance White, sister of the groom, served the cake: Mrs R. A. Weveandt. sister-in-law of the groom, poured coiiee, and Miss Barbara Zickler served punch. The guest book was held by Miss Lori Weygandt, and at the gift table were Misses Lynn Weygandt and Jud) White. After a wedding trip to Lake Louise, Banff and Victoria, B. C. the couple now reside at 2850 S. 99E, Space 17, Forest Park Mo bile Village in Oregon City. After graduating from Hepp ner High school in 1966, the bride attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande and will enroll for her senior year this fall at Oregon College of Edu cation in Monmouth. Mr. Weygandt was a graduate of Canby High school, and is presently associated with Wey gandt Machine Co. in Canby. Marriage Performed In Louisiana Church IONE Mr. and Mrs. Dick Mc Elligott announce the marriage of their son, John, to Cherry Al len of Maringovin, La. John arrived in San Francisco on August 11, following his tour of duty in Vietnam. Bob Baker motored to Louis iana with John to serve as his best man. The Nuptial Mass was per formed on August 23 at the Church of the Emaculate Heart of Mary in Maringovin. Miss Lundell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lundell, Is the bride-elect of Robert Allen Foskett. son of Mr. and Mrs. William Foskett of Piedmont, Calif. The wedding will be Saturday. September 6. at 1:00 p.m., at Central Lutheran church in Eu gene. Miss Lundell has chosen white and orange as her wed ding colors, and the hostesses used her colors in decorating the tables and rooms for her shower. The main table was cen tered with an arrangement of orange glads and mums, flank ed by orange tapers. Her cake was also decorated with her chosen colors. Mrs. Francis Stack of Eugene, sister of Miss Lundell, presided at the punch bowl, and her mother, Mrs. Raymond Lundell, poured coffee. Also assisting with the pouring were Mrs. Charles Ingalls, of Adams, and Mrs. Howard Eubanks of Arling ton, aunts of the bride-elect. Assisting Cheryl with her many lovely gifts were Mrs. Stack and her cousin, Mrs. Lar ry Eubanks of Arlington. Summer flowers were in dis play throughout the room. Hostesses for the occasion in cluded Mrs. Ray Heimbigner, Mrs. Edmond Bristow, Mrs. Lloyd Rice, Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn, Sr., Mrs. Milton Morgan, Mrs. Lloyd Morgan, Mrs. Louis Hal verson, Mrs. Earl McCabe and Mrs. Berl Akers. 5 MISS LINDA UNDER Parents Announce Couple's Betrothal Mr. and Mrs. William H. Lin- der of Pendleton announce the engagement of their daughter, Linda, to Levi Nelson Connor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert R. Connor of Heppner. Miss Linder is a graduate of Rogers High school in Rogers, Ark., and of Blue Mountain Community College where she received her certificate in Prac tical Nursing. She is now em ployed at St. Anthony hospital in Pendleton. Mr. Connor is a graduate of Heppner High school and pres ently employed by Kinzua Cor poration in Heppner. A spring wedding is being planned. Wilcox Anniversary Attended by Large Group of Relatives Sixty-five years of marriage were celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Wilcox in Portland Sunday, August 17. At a recep tion given for them by their children held at Play Haven Swim School, the couple receiv ed their family and friends. A potluck dinner at 2:30 p.m. was followed by swimming and Softball. Pictures were taken of family groups. Later in the afternoon John nie Leach, former Pacific Uni versity schoolmate of Wilcox, in troduced the couple to those i present, uorree, punch and a three-tiered cake were served. Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox then open ed gifts. Wilcox, 90, served in the Spanish-American War in Second Oregon Company B. As a young man he served as principal in Morrow and Klamath county schools. He and his wife later farmed in Eastern Oregon until their retirement in 1945. All six grandchildren of the couple were able to attend. They are Clen Wilcox. Portland. Claud Wilcox, Gresham. Charles Wil cox and Lester Wilcox, both of Hermiston, Mrs. John (Dorris) Graves, Heppner, and Mrs. Ed win (Eva) Brosten. Moscow. Idaho. Mrs. Lerov Gard Maricks Announce Daughter's Marriage IONE Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Marick announce the marriage of their daughter. Evelyn K., to Gene L. Lancaster, formerly of Maryland, and now of Cecil. The couple was married Aug ust 17 at Reno, Nev. Following brief honeymoon, the couple is at home at Cecil, where Mrs. Lancaster will con tinue management of the Cecil General Store and Mr. Lancasf. er is employed by Dick Krebs. Invitation Extended Children of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harris will hold an open house reception for them in honor of their 60th wedding anniversary. Friends and relatives of the couple may visit them from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, August 30, at their home. New Bride Honored At Rietmann Home A family bridal shower was held in honor of Mrs. raul Frlnk. the former Julie Kletmann, dau Miss Sheridan Wyman arrived at the home of her mother, Mrs. Ilene Wyman, Friday, August 22. She will stay for a one-month vacation from Emmanuel School of Nursing in Portland. Extension Continues Two-County Service . Home Economics Extension work will continue to be hand led on an area basis in Uma tilla and Morrow counties dur ing the next year, according to the Oregon Mate University Co operative Extension Service. Home Agent Molly Saul will be responsible for the adult Home Economics work in the two counties. When a 4-H Home Ec onomics agent is employed, she will be responsible for carrying out the Home Economics youth work in both counties. Mrs. Garry Tullis, lone, has been employed as a part-time Extension Aide in Morrow coun ty, to assist with carrying out the adult and youth Home Eco nomics programs. Area Extension teaching is becoming a common practice throughout Oregon and other parts of the United States. Al though a departure from the traditional Extension organiza tion, it has been well received wherever adopted. With state budgets becoming tighter, it has proven practical to have Exten sion agents specialize in specif ic subject matters, and extend their teaching over a wider ge ographic area. ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Riet mann. at the home of her aunt, Mrs. victor Rietmann, on Sun day, August 17. Hostesses were Mrs. Edmond Bristow, Mrs. Ernie McCabe of HeDpner, and Mrs. Victor Rietmann. Mrs. Tacie Parker of Walla Walla, accompanied by her dau ghter, Mrs. Fred Hill and child ren, Corlen and Curtis Nelson. of Portland, visited friends and relatives here on Saturday, and enjoyed the parade and rodeo events. Mrs. Hill will be remem bered as the former Marjoric Parker, rodeo queen in 1940. Mrs. Dean Connor returned from Good Shepherd hospital. Hermiston, recently where she had surgery on her heel. August 28. 1969 i Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wright entertained Mrs. Phyllis Parvin and daughters, Kathy and Dab ble, Portland. Mrs. Parvln's mother was also guest of the Wright's. They attended the fulr at the latter part of the week of August 19-22. Mr. and Mrs. Marry Dyer, Val- le)o, Calif.. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mc Cabe and children, Mrs. Karen O'Malley, and Mr. and Mrs. Jos McLaughlin and children, Pen dleton, were guests at the home of Francis Doherty for rodeo week end. Mr. and Mrs. Dver will remain to visit relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Helnrichs and Paula returned early Tues day from a 10-day trip by train to Prairie Duchien, Wise, on the Mississippi, where they visited relatives and attended a large family reunion Sunday of Mr. Heinrkh's family. Entering the fair her last week were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hopper and son, Loren; their grandson, Cody, and a family friend, all of Hermiston. They visited Mr. Hopper's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hopper, and re newed acquaintances here with those they knew before moving from here five years ago.
