To Conduct Flower
Workshop In lone
Mrs. Bill (Jane) Rawlins will
conduct a flower arranging
workshop Wednesday, August 6
at an an oay meeting of the
lone Oarden club. Mrs. Fred
Martin, publicity chairman for
tne club, extends an open Invl
tation to the public to attend
the workshop. Mrs. Rawlins will
teach the fundamentals of ar
ranging.
Instruction will take place at
the lone Legion Hall beginning
ai iu a.m. At noon there will
be a break for sack lunches and
tne aiternoon will be spent prac
ticing flower arrangements.
All attending are asked to
bring containers, flowers and
foliage plus any equipment they
may need. Pruning shears, scls
sors or a knife will be needed
for cutting.
Nelson Elected at
37th Yearly Reunion
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nelson,
Jr.. spent Saturday night, July
2f. in Portland with her mother,
Mrs. S. C. Ransdell. Sunday they
took his mother, Mrs. A. II. Nel
son, with them to Lions, Ore.,
to attend the Neal-Trask-Chrls-man
family reunion.
Other members of the Nelson
family attending were Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Sloneckcr (Clara
Nelson) of Milwaukie.

union has been an annual af
fair for the past 37 years. Al
fred Nelson, Jr., was elected
president of the group for the
coming year.

After Stay in Japan
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Huffman
(Nancy Wright) and Chip, Lisa,
Leslie and Lorinda, visited re
cently at the home of her sister
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Haguewood and her grandmoth
er, Mrs. Ava Wright.
The Huffmans had lust re
turned to the states after liv
ing three years in Tokyo, Japan.
After a trip to Memphis, Tenn.,
to see his family, they will be
stationed in Phoenix, Ariz.
Also at the Haguewood home
during their visit were Mr. and
Mrs. Oral Wright of Everett,
Wn., parents of Mrs. Huffman
and Mrs. Haguewood, and son
and daughter-in-law of Mrs.
Ava Wright.

The historic Park Street church
in Boston, Mass., was the scene
of the marriage of Miss Carolyn
Ruth Harold and William Ed
ward Sherman on Sunday. June
29. The bride is the daughter of
the Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth A.
Harold of Mandeville, Jamaica,
West Indies, and the groom is
the son of Mrs. Wesley A. Sher
man of Heppner.
Presiding over the double ring
afternoon ceremony was Dr. Har
old John Ockenga of Hamilton
Mass., former minister of Park
Street church and now president
of Gordon College in Wenham,
Mass. He was assisted during
the ceremony by the brides
father, Rev. Harold.

father, the bride was lovely In
a floor-length Aline gown of
white organza, detailed at the
bodice and scalloped neckline by
venise lace. The full, trailing
mantilla veil ot point desorit
was edged in matching Venise
lace, and held by a full lace
crown headpiece. She carried a
cascade bridal bouquet of white
rosebuds.
Matron of honor attendant
was Mrs. R. M. Lord, Cleveland,
Ohio, cousin of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. 0111 Si-
lander, Philadelphia, Pa.; Miss
Linda isheperd, Ellington, Conn.;
and Miss Vivian Russell, Phila
delphia, Pa., college friends of
tne pride.
The attendants wore identical
gowns in floor-length apricot
cnuron, styled in low emDire
lines, witn venise lace collars
and cuffs. Bouffant, matchine
double net headdresses were
gathered to a Venise lace crown
Each attendant carried a single
long-stemmed Talisman rose,
with baby breath, maiden hair
tern, and contrasting ribbon
streamers.
Attending as best man was Lt.
Paul Crogan of Portland, a for
mer classmate of the groom at
the University of Oregon.
Ushers were Rev. David Bick
er, LaMirada, Calif., and Doug
las Harold, both brothers of the
bride, and Edward Riff ell,
Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
For her daughter's wedding,

of Holliston, Mass., close family
friend, presided during a brief
candlelighting ceremony. An
ensemble of bridal attendants
and family members ioined in

Mr. Sherman will enroll for his
second year at Gordon Divinity

Sherman plans to teach in sec
ondary schools.
Mrs. Sherman received her de
gree from Gordon College in
June, and the groom was gradu
ated trom the University of Ore
gon in 1968.
The bride's parents have been
members of the teaching staff
of the Jamaica Bible School and
College at Mandeville, Jamaica.
Mrs. Sherman attended erade
school in Haiti, the Manchester
Hi?h school and Bishops High
school, under the British sys
tem, in Mandeville, and three
years at Gordon College.

of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Hayes
