On Friday, Mrs. Hines and Mrs. Harrison and the children went to Ever son. Wash., to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Cowen. They all went on to Chilliwack and Harrison Lake, B. C, before returning to Kinzua Sunday night. Mrs. Jack Smiley and daugh ter, Wanda, left Monday to fly to Charlotte, N. C, upon receiv ing word of the death of Mrs. Smiley's brother, Truman May on. Donna, Dorene, and Rene Flack of lone spent from Wed nesday until Monday of last week visiting their grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Flack. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Nickelsen of Portland spent the week-end here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Willis Wright, Sr., and moving their household goods to their home in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rice went to Bend last Saturday for the week-end and to bring home their children, Linda and Mike, who had spent the week there visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Oyler. Ray Hampton returned home last Saturday from Heppner where he had surgery last Tues day at the Heppner hospital. Mrs. Mike Todd and son, Gary, and Mrs. Denzil White and daughter, Susan, were in Heppner last Tuesday for Gary to have medical care. Mrs. Guy Van Arsdale and Mrs. Dean Wimer were in The Dalles last Wednesday for Mrs. Wimer to have medical atten tion. Mrs. Earl Norris and Mrs. Frank DeMerit were in Heppner last Thursday for Eva to have a medical checkup. Mrs. Richard Mortimore and Mrs. Earl Norris were in Port land Friday for Mrs. Mortimore to have medical care. Returning home, they were accompanied by Mrs. W. J. Bell, Jr., and dau ghter, Betty, of Portland who are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Murdock. Mr. and Mrs. Frank DeMeritt were business visitors to Hepp ner Saturday. Also in Heppner that day were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Todd. Arriving last Saturday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Don Hardwick were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stoll of Baker. Visiting briefly with friends at Camp 5 last Saturday were Mrs. Marie Rhoton of Manzan ita and Mr. and Mrs. Al Law son of Spokane, Wash. Visiting Sunday at the Guy Van Arsdale home were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Arnhart, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Reece and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Reece of Joseph. The Rick Reeces will remain at Camp 5 and he will be employ ed by Eastern Oregon Logging Co. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Laite went to Wenatchee, Wash., Sat urday to attend the wedding of his brother. Their son, Tony, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Jiggs Bowman. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Craft and children of Napa, Calif., arrived last Thursday to make an ex tended visit with Mr. and Mrs. Everett Stewart. Mrs. Mark Jellick and child ren, Dennis and Cathy, and Mrs. Lee Bailey went to Baker Satur day to visit with relatives and where Dennis will remain for the summer. Enroute home the ladies had to travel through high water caused by cloud bursts and in one hit a rock causing damage to the Jellick car.
